This is a dedicated thread for users to bounce around and brainstorm on ideas for new roles, items, game mechanics or anything else to improve and build upon our beloved Mafia game.

Back in 2015 Sims made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas for roles since Lucid was looking to make some new ones (found here: https://epicmafia.com/topic/71173?page=1) That thread's dead now, but it's always good to try to bring the community together and come up with new stuff for the game.

Some of you might know my reputation for designing new roles and my passion for Mafia. EpicMafia is a pretty cool website and can always use some new stuff to spice up and remix the usual game formula, and I know a few of you have ideas of your own.

Shapeshifter

- Can see all whispers but they are anonymous
- Can whisper someone as someone else (kinda like vent but with whispers)

this is the only proof I can find of sorcer(ess) existing because whirled became defunct in like 2015
there is evidence of the martyr role which I love so much
which was:
Martyr
- Chooses a player each night
- If that player dies, martyr dies instead
- Sided with the village
It's like bodyguard w/o the chance of actually killing. That RNG shouldn't even exist in general

i think many roles are actually organized in the learn tab: miller and suspect, driver and toreador... imo theres just a few roles misplaced.

id place turncoat right next to the third party being the last village role and fiddler next to the blinder

Idk if you saw the vocab thread but things from there could be fixed.

Uh also I just want some organization in the roles list. Both in the learn tab and when you hover over a closed role setup. Like medics are grouped together, cops and investigative roles are right after (except justice pls fix) and then after there's no order to things. It'd be nice if all appears as blue would be together, giving items together, etc. if we're going by function.

In situations where spy is paramount, let's say there's a third party like killer or fool. Then, mafia can joint with them. However it would be harded to do so if the non-killing member would be able to communicate with the "spy" in the first place.

It's a nerfed vanilla maf, but I can see it having some purpose. It feels like it would be one of the first roles ever made, but apparently it's not. Very comp/ranked like role

I think sorceress would be a good role to have because in setups like JFK assassination, the mafia meeting mafia has to be spy to communicate with the sniper, but if a role whose purpose was to be apart of the meetings but not kill would be good. Or it could start with a gun, but the namesake is from Werewolf. The "witch" role would participate in werewolf meetings, but not kill.

• Protects 1 person each night
• If Babysitter dies at night, so does the person she is protecting.
• Sides with village.

Anti-Cupid
• Targets 2 Players, and forms a “death pact” between the two.
• Doesn’t attend mafia meetings
• When one of the two targets dies, so does the pact partner.
• Mafia members cannot kill anyone at night who are currently in a death pact.
• Those in a death pact will not be notified, but will show up in a report as “....is part of a death pact with...”
• Members in a death pact cannot be converted.
• Sides with mafia.

Scrawny Spinster
• If given an item, it will “refuse” it.
• Sides with village.
• If lynched person was voted on my Scrawny Spinster, she gets converted to vanilla mafia.
• As mafia, still reports as Scrawny Spinster/Villager.
• Can attend meetings.
• Sides with mafia after conversion.

Minority--1/game can turn mafia lynch to an nl. Sided with maf.

Third party. When visited, suits visitor as shapeshifter, deletes their will, kills them, and guises as them.

Can find out a random person's role at night, once a game.
If that person is not visiting or visited, they shut the curtains on him.
Can keep attempting to find out a role until successful.
If visited by stalker, stalker converts to bride and both the stalker and peeping tom are revealed.

Delusionair

During the day he makes delusions, such as receiving a gun, someone dying, someone naked. These delusions are all fake and only appear to the delusionair. There is no way to tell these delusions are fake except talking to other people. If you use a delusioned item nothing will happen. Appears as villager to itself.

Delusions can be:

- Someone dying (delusionair cant see them speak or vote)

- Someone naked (appears as a random role from setup)

- Someone voting him

- Receiving a random item

At the end of day everyone gets the option to punch the punching bag, if the majority of town votes yes the punching bag has a 50% chance of being killed. If they survive or town majority votes no the punching bag is immune to night kills for that night.

Every night, can give out a mask.
During the day and the night, anyone who is talking with a mask will be anonymous.

Can give two pieces of bread every night.
The bread does not provide nourishment or prevent famine.
Whoever does not have bread for 3 days will die from famine.
