This is a dedicated thread for users to bounce around and brainstorm on ideas for new roles, items, game mechanics or anything else to improve and build upon our beloved Mafia game.

Back in 2015 Sims made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas for roles since Lucid was looking to make some new ones (found here: https://epicmafia.com/topic/71173?page=1) That thread's dead now, but it's always good to try to bring the community together and come up with new stuff for the game.

Some of you might know my reputation for designing new roles and my passion for Mafia. EpicMafia is a pretty cool website and can always use some new stuff to spice up and remix the usual game formula, and I know a few of you have ideas of your own.

- Sided with mafia.
- Attends mafia meeting.
- Anyone who visits Medusa at night, turns into stone the following day (after this day, they are converted back to normal).

Game show host

- At night, challenges someone (similar to gambler)

- They both pick 'spare' or 'kill'

- If both pick spare, they both get a non-reveal gun which works as associate if they shoot eachother

- If one picks kill, they kill the other

- If both pick kill, nothing happens

- Wins if survives until the end of the game

I like it. It's a defensive Mafia role, something we have very little of (really we don't have a lot of stationary/defensive roles in general,) and an interesting variant on the Arsonist.

Here's a cool custom role that I've always liked, but I would modify: the Farmer by Narukami.

- They just want to mow hay.
- When visited, they'll give you a bread so you will stop bothering them.
- Gives out a gun during the Farmer meeting.
- When attempted to be converted, the conversion will be stopped and the converter will also turn into a Farmer.
- When there are multiple farmers, they will have a meeting.
- Sided with the village.

The things that I'd change about this is that I'd remove the meeting for handing out guns and meeting with other farmers. Other than that, it's a simple and cool idea for a companion role to the Baker and could help make famine-oriented games more balanced. I also like the idea of its anti-conversion ability, it's like the farmer just calmly persuades their would-be converter to live a quiet, simple life like him.

^This appeared for me when there there was an opposing mafia team and this outed who the enemies were. Major problem here.

Censoring man:

- Meeting mafia that won't allow any nudity or blood
- Auto kill celeb at the beginning of day (voodoo death message) because she's a naked sIut
As long as Censoring man is alive:
- Orc, bride and crystal have no effect
- All the bleeding people will die immediately
- Any self-naked role (like werewolf) when activate, will die at night with janitor effect
- Virgin won't stop any dead cause people can't use her blood
- Auto kill a random zombie each night cause that role is disgusting
- If got drunk at night, will kill the drunk and ignore role-blocking effect


I'm not sure it should insta-kill ww and celeb. That is...way overpowered. However, if it just cancels the reveal, fine. So like, as long as the censor is alive, celeb and ww will not reveal.

Ditch the zombie part. Ditch the drunk part.Tada!

Come out with:

- Roles cannot be revealed during the day or night
- Roles like celeb and werewolf will not reveal until censor is dead
- Bleeders will die instantly and knives will kill instantly instead of bleeding out.

More manageable. Still powerful, but not as bad.

Nonmeeting mafia not knowing partners is a big part of balance especially in setups with no whispers

From my point of view, it's the fault of the partner if they don't contact, part of the risk to being a non-meeting mafioso: you may end up endangering your partner.

There really is no excuse to not contacting your non-meeting partner anymore now that we have a message that tells you who they are. See also: godawful Sandbox playstyle.

Another battle snakes pitch

I would think adding some natural boarders would make the game interesting, either something 2-4 player exclusive(as 5-8 is hectic enough), or have an option to turn it on while creating the game

(These look like crap but you get the idea. I'd be happy to suggest a lot of natural border formations if you decide to implant it.)

I think it should die if they lose twice in a row, that'd be better than just dying from losing one round.
