This is a dedicated thread for users to bounce around and brainstorm on ideas for new roles, items, game mechanics or anything else to improve and build upon our beloved Mafia game.
Back in 2015 Sims made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas for roles since Lucid was looking to make some new ones (found here: https://epicmafia.com/topic/71173?page=1) That thread's dead now, but it's always good to try to bring the community together and come up with new stuff for the game.
Some of you might know my reputation for designing new roles and my passion for Mafia. EpicMafia is a pretty cool website and can always use some new stuff to spice up and remix the usual game formula, and I know a few of you have ideas of your own.
NOTE: If you're here to complain about Sandbox moderation or the site mods, please don't.
suis still breaking games, many issues with mobile (some specific ones - menus auto picking first on list unless you tap very carefully, can't copy paste in unranked, whole lot of ingame formatting and scroll issues. there was a full thread with a list of them), strange loading issue where all elements on a page will be positioned way farther apart than they need to be and refresh usually won't fix it
also a recent role glitch: sometimes you just die with no death message or will, which i assume is a polar bear kill
Oh my god just stop making new roles..all of the new roles and suggestions are VERY contrived. We have too many roles that are unused and straight up garbage (jack the ripper). Just STOP with the new roles at least until we can get the current roles in a little order....

a lot of the new roles are also seriously bugged too so i think it'd probably be better to let those get fixed first before adding more roles ?
-shooting the moon should add 26 points to each other player instead of 13 points (this should be a fast fix)
-game should end when one player reaches or exceeds a certain number of points instead of having a game limit (100 points is typical, this might be harder)
-players should be able to pass each other cards every round (this is probably hard but if implemented would make epicmafia better than all other sites where you could play hearts)
I love playing hearts on here because of the great ui so it'd be amazing to be able to play the normal version on here.

denial, one of the admins of epic mafia, (looking at virgin, the role) "I don't think fool is a comp approved role, or is that trickster"
also, someone else who just pm'd me, "remake all the sprites so they're not indistinguishable dog sht (all 800)"
All I'm saying is that all the role icons are in mild, not too bright colors right now and if you don't want an icon to stand out then that's the solution
here's a diff role icon that feels less out of place
the colours have been specifically chosen to convey what the role does just by looking at it. let's say we put your icons in a bag and we pull out rainmaker, without the knowing the name, can you ever infer what this role does?
martyr is dressed in a white gown, and throughout art history a white gown, such as in a painting of joan of arc (a martyr) where she is wearing one while tied to the cross, conveys innocence and purity. this is why virgin doctor and angel are completely white. the next part of this icon are the eyes and i specifically made them bright blue and contrast with the hair. blue eyes throughout western art have been used to show purity like the all so popular image of jesus being depicted with blue eyes although he's from the middle east, so that is what i was going for. lastly the halo around the head has been used in christian art for centuries to signify sainthood and most christian martyrs like saint Sebastian and jesus were painted with this halo.
so in conclusion while looking at martyr you can infer that they look similar to doctor, virgin, angel, a cross, and a halo, therefore you can conclude this is a protective role of some kind similar to angel.

here's a diff role icon for martyr that feels less out of place and is a woman this time because i counted the genders of the village and theres about 2 men for each woman

*Gnome > If not lynched or killed after 4 full turns, turns into Treestump. > As a Gnome, can visit one person each night. > As a Gnome, can either reverse a stab wound, protect someone, lock someone up, can reverse famine, or make an item disappear. > Wins with village.
