This is a dedicated thread for users to bounce around and brainstorm on ideas for new roles, items, game mechanics or anything else to improve and build upon our beloved Mafia game.
Back in 2015 Sims made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas for roles since Lucid was looking to make some new ones (found here: https://epicmafia.com/topic/71173?page=1) That thread's dead now, but it's always good to try to bring the community together and come up with new stuff for the game.
Some of you might know my reputation for designing new roles and my passion for Mafia. EpicMafia is a pretty cool website and can always use some new stuff to spice up and remix the usual game formula, and I know a few of you have ideas of your own.
NOTE: If you're here to complain about Sandbox moderation or the site mods, please don't.
dealing with the devil giving you a vest and gun sounds about balanced although the issue becomes that when someone accepts they'll simply openly claim "deviled" and everyone will know not to accept another devil deal, and there's no reason someone wouldn't claim deviled because everyone of every alliance benefits from it
making it more like keymaker is going in the wrong direction
manipulator amounts to mafia judge which has been suggested many times in various forms but mafia having a judge is just too much, it basically gives mafia the win on lylo
if you prefer, we could call overseer a weak invisible man because seeing what's being discussed doesn't actually catch anyone
I originally had Houdini at 3 instead of 1, put it back to that then. It's a good role.
Then nerf manipulator. Cancel out a user's vote and that is all.
Overseer has limited chances to see all, they still have to choose when to use their powers wisely, they don't get to choose whose meeting they get to see, they just see all things said in every meeting throughout they nights they choose.
The name is fine.
Exorcist is a good role.
If you have suggestions for devil like I said, share them.
We should make more cool third party roles like the gambler, it's really unique especially how it's function works at night with the 'you are trapped in a...' It also makes for exciting town conversations
Knife sided mafia role which gets a knife every day should be created (doesn't meet in mafia meeting)
There should also be a lot more simple main roles like engineer

what if the daisy had 3 petals and changed alignment with each visit/petal loss? depending on the last petal lost, that would be the alignment you're stuck with. granted, it would be difficult to map that trajectory if you're visited multiple times in a night.
My original intention of the role was sort of make it a reverse siren; instead of wanting visitors, I thought "what if there was something that wouldn't want visitors?" Like in my head, a Daisy could find it difficult if there's a bunch of roles that could potentially visit, and so what it tries to do is to survive and make up reasons why people shouldn't be visiting it while trying to keep people at bay.
Also, I thought it would be a good foil for something like siren. If people think I'm a Daisy as siren, I can just eat people who're trying to get me killed. Daisy could fakeclaim granny and try to throw town off their trail.
But like Cub said, it does feel a little limited to have use in the grand scheme of things. And a little bit of you said, either I think it becomes too hard or too easy depending on what the setup is.
is there already a role that reflects back actions

I forget what conclusion Foxie and I came to when we discussed one of my roles that gave out shields, which reflected actions back upon the visitor, but I know we discussed it. I'll go find it.

golbolco had a suggestion for "deflecting" actions and that didn't end up working because of how every single action would have to be handled uniquely
if by reflecting actions you mean applying actions to the actor rather than the acted upon, driver has that ability but indirectly and toreador is similar but not the same
Would adding more visits = death be more viable, or unfair then?

I have debated renaming this to Batter and having it get 'strikes' instead of losing petals. Partly because there's no roles about sports so far and also because I suggest too many roles around love.
do you realize how easy it would be to get 3 cumulative visits in a game while alive? chances are anyone with this role would die every game.
