This is a dedicated thread for users to bounce around and brainstorm on ideas for new roles, items, game mechanics or anything else to improve and build upon our beloved Mafia game.
Back in 2015 Sims made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas for roles since Lucid was looking to make some new ones (found here: https://epicmafia.com/topic/71173?page=1) That thread's dead now, but it's always good to try to bring the community together and come up with new stuff for the game.
Some of you might know my reputation for designing new roles and my passion for Mafia. EpicMafia is a pretty cool website and can always use some new stuff to spice up and remix the usual game formula, and I know a few of you have ideas of your own.
NOTE: If you're here to complain about Sandbox moderation or the site mods, please don't.
Ben suggested earlier to me that Cyborg could be a third party role that converts using its charges and has to overwhelm the other factions. That might be best, since using that day roleblock power would be great for other roles without being tacked on to a charge thing (though I do still like that mechanic idea.)
i just thought of this, but wouldnt the winner of a duel also partly be decided simply by who has the fastest internet? could make some users always lose in a duel
cyborg would be a better one to add, unless foxie has some remarks
Maybe the button to fire the duelist gun should just be a "Fire!" button too, to streamline it. If winning 3 times is too much, maybe 2 is good enough, since a lot of other thirds win with a two successes criteria.
You need some sort of live system message countdown. On the sidebar it should read "Ready to duel?" and when you hit yes, it starts a "3... 2... 1... Draw!" message thing and then you'll be able to fire.
i don't think you got my point, even in main setups this wouldn't work because there is no counter to it. You would use it in setups with watchers/trackers whatever but they can't fight against this to begin with

not for non-meeting mafia.
that'd only work in certain setups with both a smuggler and a non-meeting maf. This would just turn into smuggler smuggling non-meeting every night, without any real counter. doesn't change the game in any (good) way.
Certain roles were meant to be used for specific set-ups. Mortician is one. Mechanic is another. Not everything has to be for the Sandbox set-up.

i didn't seek to engage you on what you thought of the role. i just wanted to address your patently incorrect comparison.

Main role: Boring in sandbox, meant for strategic playing off of very basic functions Sandbox: Too overpowered for main normally, makes you feel engaged in a game
This is a generalization, but before any roles are critiqued please understand that some roles here are meant for main, and the others for sandbox. Felt like I should post this reminder as lucid has been adding both and just because one role doesn't fit in well with your closed setup doesn't mean it's a bad role.
