This is a dedicated thread for users to bounce around and brainstorm on ideas for new roles, items, game mechanics or anything else to improve and build upon our beloved Mafia game.

Back in 2015 Sims made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas for roles since Lucid was looking to make some new ones (found here: https://epicmafia.com/topic/71173?page=1) That thread's dead now, but it's always good to try to bring the community together and come up with new stuff for the game.

Some of you might know my reputation for designing new roles and my passion for Mafia. EpicMafia is a pretty cool website and can always use some new stuff to spice up and remix the usual game formula, and I know a few of you have ideas of your own.

NOTE: If you're here to complain about Sandbox moderation or the site mods, please don't.

dealing with the devil giving you a vest and gun sounds about balanced although the issue becomes that when someone accepts they'll simply openly claim "deviled" and everyone will know not to accept another devil deal, and there's no reason someone wouldn't claim deviled because everyone of every alliance benefits from it


The deal with the devil should be a night meeting where the devil offers a deal where the user receives an advantage but they'll also receive a disadvantage but if the user really needs the advantage, they may have to accept.. I imagine this role as something where the devil is looking at vulnerable users like a sole member of the mafia and offers them something like a gun to win the game but in return, they have to give up something like their right to have your vote count the next day or that you'll die in x amount of days.

It's a gamble to make a deal with the devil but if you make a deal and you can make it work, then you're good. Maybe the devil's winning condition can be changed to surviving until the final 2.

How about a villager that thinks they are sided with the mafia.

Like, they see themselves as mafia and can do a night kill, but are actually sided with the village.

I still think the Battery Cyborg would be a good role. It has some good potential applications while not being too complicated and having unforeseen side effects.

I think that as long as we get new roles that aren't buggy and play well, I don't mind what they are. If Duelist is the last one until the next wave (whenever that'll be), that's fine by me. If anything catches your eye you should do it regardless though (with necessary revisions and tweaks,) no need for huge breaks if you feel motivated to work on something, right?

For future new role waves, I'd recommend taking a good look at Foxie's proposal for a usergroup that manages new roles and role revisions to keep all the new ideas in one easy-to-access spot:

i just had a great idea to complete the concept
people in the group can "+♥" roles to add them to a list of "loved roles" by the role patrol for you to sort through, add, and remove as you deem necessary

this would allow us to organize everything very neatly, give users people to go to for role advice and suggestions, and generally satisfy me

Yeah, while I'm sure there is a lot more roles that people want added, this is a good amount for people to get accustomed to until the next wave of roles come around

I think monkey should be mafsided and renamed to Director. the idea of golbolco but on mafia. actually what golbolco said but monkey is overpowered and it makes more sense as mafia

Could the Toreador icon be changed so that it's color matches the others? Now it's a shade darker than all other mafia roles.

This one you can tell which Gambler won because it was the one with sidekick but I really think including names in the third party win messages would be a very good addition.

Duelist (revision)
- Each day challenges a player to a duel at sunset
- They will both receive a gun and learn eachother's name at night
- The guns will be anonymous and miss anyone except the participants
- The loser's will won't be revealed
- Wins after 3 victories

We talked about it way earlier in the thread but I don't know where we left off on it, I just thought of it because I found that unused icon.
