This is a dedicated thread for users to bounce around and brainstorm on ideas for new roles, items, game mechanics or anything else to improve and build upon our beloved Mafia game.
Back in 2015 Sims made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas for roles since Lucid was looking to make some new ones (found here: https://epicmafia.com/topic/71173?page=1) That thread's dead now, but it's always good to try to bring the community together and come up with new stuff for the game.
Some of you might know my reputation for designing new roles and my passion for Mafia. EpicMafia is a pretty cool website and can always use some new stuff to spice up and remix the usual game formula, and I know a few of you have ideas of your own.
NOTE: If you're here to complain about Sandbox moderation or the site mods, please don't.

makes an anonymous meeting. can kill people. chooses their target during the day instead of the night.
add ascetic, rolestopper, jailkeeper. They're standard roles.
Only killing actions work on ascetic (everything else acts like it was roleblocked if they target an ascetic) Rolestopper makes no actions (including killing) at all work on their target. Jailkeeper roleblocks & rolestops their target.
Making over-complicated or too niche roles doesn't really add anything to the game, because they probably will never be played outside of sandbox. The best kind of role is one that has one unique idea behind it, and which lets players look at a normal game of mafia with a different strategies.
maybe we should stop suggesting superfluous roles that appease nobody but the creator of said role and 5 or so fanatics and maybe fix the bugs that inhibit quality-of-life
tbh thought I like most of the roles in this thread. the more the merrier, and the more potential to come up with some interesting role interactions. Besides, the more weird/unique a role is, the more intriguing it is because it'll cause greater changes in normal gameplay.
What are the bugs that are messing up the game? the ones i can think of off the top of my head is the suicide game/crash bug (fixed?) and the bug where the host role doesn't work with anonymous decks. I might just be naive on that part.

that's my suggestion anyway

What about the communist role? ->Looks like villager except with red shirt ->Holds meetings, votes to visit someone at night... ->If the visited is a power role (not a traitor or blue), they are converted to a traitor or villager ->If the visited is blue/traitor, they are converted to communist ->The revolution is complete when everyone is either a communist, traitor, or a blue (communists win)
->Optional: Communists die when they visit those filthy politicians
Another role I'd like to see implemented. Don't have a name yet.
It's like silencer but the silenced still sees themselves typing. So they don't know they're silenced. And it's confusing and maddening to them and fun. Plus we can see after the game ends what they were intending to say.
OR
The person is placed in an isolation chamber. They still see themselves typing but can't see anyone else. And no one can hear them either.
Loan Shark Created bycoolkidrox1235 months ago Each day can loan a room to one player who can then choose another player to room with In exchange for the room, the player gives the Loan Shark their voting right If the player that rented the room gets killed while inside the room the killer must pay the renter's debts by giving the Loan shark their voting right. Therefore revealing to the Loan Shark (and maybe the other players) who the killer is. The renter can choose to repay their debt to the loan shark on a later day but each day they leave it off the debt will rise and once they finaly pay their debt the loan shark gains the amount of votes that the player was in debt for. Wins if he has rented a room to every player/made all the players pay him
i don't get sidekick still, sorry, the role wins if any other third party wins?
I guess it's kind of comparable to how Cthulhu can only win if the cult wins. Sidekick only wins if their assigned partner wins and is basically along for the ride.
