This is a dedicated thread for users to bounce around and brainstorm on ideas for new roles, items, game mechanics or anything else to improve and build upon our beloved Mafia game.

Back in 2015 Sims made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas for roles since Lucid was looking to make some new ones (found here: https://epicmafia.com/topic/71173?page=1) That thread's dead now, but it's always good to try to bring the community together and come up with new stuff for the game.

Some of you might know my reputation for designing new roles and my passion for Mafia. EpicMafia is a pretty cool website and can always use some new stuff to spice up and remix the usual game formula, and I know a few of you have ideas of your own.

NOTE: If you're here to complain about Sandbox moderation or the site mods, please don't.

I've played another mafia game way before this one and it had one particular item called "Bug" which the person can use on a target and the following day would bring up a report letting them know if they've took an action or not. Could be useful for finding if someone is who they say they are and also could be a fabbed version of the bug which doesn't activate, just like the crystal.

that doesnt sound healthy ): i started eating these egg bakes in the morning? egg + ham + onion and they're easy to make and i can eat them on the go usually, missing breakfast makes u soooo tired in the morning

Sidekick might need to be immune to 3rd party actions. Otherwise, Werewolf can eat it, Clockmaker can kill it, Monk can monk it, etc. Unless we want to give 3rd parties that strong an advantage.

just make it immune to clockmaker and make it so that creepy girl can't give the doll to sidekick n1.


its not like sidekick would have a self-kill function, holding cg's doll is no different from anyone else the only difference is sidekick would try to help cg which would mean town can't blindly lynch them, which if that was an issue we wouldnt have fool


its a role that will be mostly used in sandbox.

you only need to claim virgin or even fool in order to get idiots to bw you without thinking


then again, CG is barely used in sandbox anyways so shrugs it doesnt really matter


the likelihood of claiming virgin as fool is much higher than the likelihood of rolling cg AND sidekick AND claiming virgin

can you make bodyguard a fixed action instead of relying on luck? every time he dies and kills the attacker

oh and i think dreamer is sill glitched so you can dream you can trust yourself or you can dream about three people and two of the people there are the same so s/he is confirmed mafia. same with caroler i think

no, and change clockmaker's 3rd party timer so it can't win n1 that's a problem of its own

if wolf eating sidekick helps wolf win, that's in both of their best interests is it not

Here's a mockup of how I think the night meeting for the sidekick and their partner should look:



So the Sidekick meets with their partner separate from the partner's own action (in this case a monk's action to protect a player that night.) In the Monk's dropdown menu, they would not be able to select their sidekick. This is the same for all third parties, so cults can't convert sidekicks, clockmakers can't autowin, etc.

How's that sound? If the Sidekick is just immune to all actions that'll make it too OP in my opinion.

true about the clockmaker, that would be autowin. creepy girl could also be bad.


for a ww its more useful to keep his sidekick alive for a while, tho, maybe even to end-game

True. It seems Clockmaker is the only real problem. Maybe they just need to not be in the same setup.
