i'm curious to see how the community feels about diagnosing yourself at home, whether it'd be mental illness(or lack of mental illness) or physical stuff. i personally think it's a terrible idea, and i also think pointing that out isn't wrong.
teens can talk to people without their parents permission, it isn't like they're out of options. most schools have counselors or psychologists or people they can talk to.

Oh, no. Many people do come out strong. I'm saying teens who are currently in that situation, don't get me wrong.
are you a girl or a guy

i didnt know delano knew every single teen who was abused at one point. i'm glad we've met this is a serious honor. i would've assumed at least one of them came out strong, but of course not

Most teens who are abused will be mentally ill, because at the very least they'd become depressed. They might not develop a long term illness, but they will be in a place of VERY LITTLE mental health, which is exactly what mental illness is.
but you're generalizing that all teens who are abused by their parents are mentally ill. i wouldn't go as far as that

Are you saying people who are hit and beat by their very parents won't develop a disorder of some sort? You do realize it's very very probable to happen.
schizophrenia is not bpd. if you hallucinate and/or hear voices thats more likely to be an obvious mental illness compared to being a teen with mood swings for christs sake

If somebody is living in a broken & abusive home, chances are, they're mentally ill and cannot go to a professional because of their abusive guardian. What do they do then? C'mon, tell me. Do they wait? Do they wait until they're legally an adult and have no medication despite being ill for many years? Do they let their illness culminate?
BTW, I was diagnosed by a professional as having paranoid schizophrenia at ten. TEN. You know why? I displayed, and still display all the positive, negative and cognitive symptoms.
There's this thing to self diagnosis: most people that do it can't get professional diagnosis. I reiterate this because it is important.
