i'm curious to see how the community feels about diagnosing yourself at home, whether it'd be mental illness(or lack of mental illness) or physical stuff. i personally think it's a terrible idea, and i also think pointing that out isn't wrong.
I'm slightly ok with self-diagnosis, since you know yourself and the internet can tell you just about everything you need to know.
However if you diagnosis yourself and then go to a hospital seeking medical assistance, if a doctor disagrees with your diagnosis, he's probably right.

Especially if you attempt to get some kind of counteractive medication for said mental disorder you probably don't have. What if you use that medicine and it totally starts fricking you up because you don't even have that mental disorder you thought you did
everyone thinks they have bpd for ..some reason but i dont really care how you self diagnose just donr pull the "ok so you see i dont like people" and self diagnose aspd/avpd after tjat
im not against self dxing at all but if you think you have npd just cos you think youre better than someone thats not how you self diagnose. most ppl usually self diagnose wrong though
Well I self-diagnosed a chronic illness when I was 14 because of incompetent doctors and I was actually diagnosed with said chronic illness at 17. So idk.
i have a friend who is convinced he had a stroke(hes 20) at one point, he also self diagnosed his mental illnesses and refuses to see a doctor. sigh
sounds like a friend of mine. he goes back and forth between being convinced that he has a brain tumor, but since on some level he knows that he doesn't he won't see a doctor. i get a kick out of it
it's usually a bad idea but some are glaringly obvious if you have it. like if you have really severe depression, you don't really need a doctor to tell you that you have really severe depression.

the only thing that i have an issue with is when people hope that they have one mental illness or another. that they think it would make them coolly unique or excuse their mistakes. i don't care otherwise
