i'm curious to see how the community feels about diagnosing yourself at home, whether it'd be mental illness(or lack of mental illness) or physical stuff. i personally think it's a terrible idea, and i also think pointing that out isn't wrong.
People are too quick to say they're suffering from depression or some sh*t like that when usually all they need to do is just listen to some Drake and cry all the pain away, then they'll be fine.
ok just saw this post and i can say without doubt that this thread was built on a lie there's no way this is a real person
what exactly is so bizarre about anything they've said?

regardless of what they claim is there any need to be a total [redacted] to a kid lol grow up
Yeh I act that way towards them so they stop behaving like you.
the fact a 30-something year old man basically says its okay for him to bully a child is simultaneously hilarious, and sad.

@ Me Next Time, Thanks. The Only Reason I'm Self-Diagnosing Is Because I *Have No Other Option*. I'm A Minor In An Abusive Home And I Don't Exactly Have Access To A Psych -
I've Done As Much Research As I Can, I've Talked To Others Who Are Professionally Diagnosed, And They've Told Me I Do Have It.
I Don't Believe Some -Pull Like "I get a little bit nervous when I take tests.... So that means I have severe anxiety."

schizophrenia is not bpd. if you hallucinate and/or hear voices thats more likely to be an obvious mental illness compared to being a teen with mood swings for christs sake
assuming we are speaking of borderline here, it's far more than just "lol mood swings." please stop reducing it to just that.
There is a difference between self diagnosis, and knowing your symptoms. If you have symptoms that fit a certain syndrome/disease/illness/what have you, then THAT is when you should go to a doctor and explain the symptoms that you have so they can properly diagnose you. I think it's very easy for people to diagnose themselves with something so they are more comfortable, and so they can figure out the things they need to do to help themselves. I think people should indeed know what symptoms go with what illnesses but self diagnosis seems to follow the pattern of a self-fulfilling prophecy, and someone who is trained in diagnosing illnesses is the person that should be diagnosing you.
self diagnosis is an incredible stupid thing to do
self medicating can be bad. Self diagnosis is still better than doing nothing at all. At least you're trying to understand what's going on rather than ignoring it

'Sesame Street' Announces New Character With Autism, Julia
teens can talk to people without their parents permission, it isn't like they're out of options. most schools have counselors or psychologists or people they can talk to.
I know. But most counselors & psychologists will relay information to their parents, I'm quite sure it's a legal thing. Lots of, not all, teens won't go there because they're afraid that the authority will talk to their parents. It's a bit of a fear factor, and a big risk for them.
no they wont like thats the whole point of going there
Are you saying people who are hit and beat by their very parents won't develop a disorder of some sort? You do realize it's very very probable to happen.
Most teens who are abused will be mentally ill, because at the very least they'd become depressed. They might not develop a long term illness, but they will be in a place of VERY LITTLE mental health, which is exactly what mental illness is.
well you've never been known to be the most rational individual so
Listen to Satan, the Sea World professional, for psychological issues
he might be able to tell you how to correctly hump a dolphin
thanks for proving my point, pal.
also you are in your first semester of your first year of school, don't get ahead of yourself bud.
p.s. i'm not a sea world professional, i am a marine biologist. very different. i've probably taken the same amount of psychology courses as you anyway (since you're in your first semester of your first year of a bachelor's degree in psychology)
