Okay so, I officially committed to a college today. I'll be going there in the fall. A majority of my knowledge about college comes from stuff that I've seen in TV shows, movies and have heard from random people. For those of you who are actually enrolled in a university right now, how is it like and what should I expect?
Me: PJ should study what interests him and not listen to the Internet strangers with crazy agendas who try to tell him exactly what his college experience will be like.
You: [spontaneous combustion of loathing and frustration]
The major/minor thing is a little different in Germany. There's a lot more flexibility, so that's good. I've always wanted to see if I could do cinematography on the side, but recently I've been starting to take the idea very seriously and have really been considering making it my focus.
I heard it's good to go by "Major in something that you'll get good money in, minor in something you love" but idk how well that works
Majoring in something that will make you money doesn't work if you don't enjoy your major, potentially get bad grades because of how much you don't enjoy your major, and then hate your 9-to-5.

for someone who's life experience effectively amounts to "i'm a WASP from new england who got bankrolled through college" it's pretty shocking how much peter thinks he understands about the life experience of others, or life experience outside of any bubble really
wait, who am i kidding, no it's not
What's wrong with you lol
i'm not as normal and cool and well-adjusted as you, clearly

Don't major in art or dance or film or any of that crap.
I'm wondering what you guys think of this because I'm actually considering majoring in film as weird as that is.
Look at it this way.... someone has to major in this kind of stuff

went over my head
That OP. Look at the level anxiety. "I've only learned from movies and tv and I'd like to know is it all hookers and cocaine or will there be actual learning as well?"
if you had told me 2 years ago that peter would become the requisite "look at how much more NORMAL and COOL i am than everyone else!" poster i would've laughed in your face
I think we all saw it coming to be honest.
i mean, it makes sense from any socially stunted person who finally puts it together, it's just that normally people do this when they're like 19 and think better of it by the time they're his age

I feel bad for anyone that goes from homeschooling to college, because that makes the transition into that lifestyle way harder imo
