This question has been on my mind for a while now. Should people on welfare have the right to vote? Discuss. I am merely interested in others' opinions.
If you voted 'Other' and chose to comment below, please elaborate. Don't be a dips*** like Diabolik
Since some people clearly can't see what I voted in the poll, I think that people on welfare should be allowed to vote.
ANY POLICY THAT INCREASES THE PROPORTION OF VOTES CAST BY WHITE PEOPLE IS BAD.
ANY POLICY THAT DECREASES THE PROPORTION OF VOTES CAST BY WHITE PEOPLE IS GOOD.
Sometimes I envy simple people

it's not derailing. by trying to take away voting rights from welfare voters, you're basically trying to pull voting literacy tests again. it's relevant to the topic because anyone asserting that welfare recipients should not be allowed to vote is, whether actively or not, encouraging institutional racism.

@Empire I never said that the taxes that went directly to welfare were the issue. :) It's all the taxes combined that can make it difficult, of course. Also I don't see property tax on that chart--like for cars and what not? Is it included in one of those categories?

"THERE IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH INCOME AND WEALTH DISPARITY IN THIS COUNTRY"
"THE RICH IN THIS COUNTRY DON'T PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE OF TAXES, WHICH ARE BASED ON A PROGRESSIVE TAX POLICY CHARGING THEM A HIGHER PERCENTAGE OF THEIR LARGER AMOUNT OF MONEY"
Yeah, and what about those small business who make no money. They have to pay huge taxes on their profits, and that really screws them over =(. We should introduce D.A.R.T. programs into our schools across the nation (Dare to resist taxes.)
Yeah what Malaka said is really spot on, despite if many people disagree based on what is always being spewed to us. I disagree that they shouldn't vote, though. I doubt many on welfare care about voting more than their welfare checks.

I'm not angry at all. I don't know where you got that impression.
The estate tax is not the big picture in it.
This is the most useful picture, as it shows the approximate combined taxrate of the lowest quintile.
Less than 5% (For some higher, for some lower) for every tax is not bad at all, and the services that buys you is more than worth the less than 5% of your income. (Roads, Social Security, Medicaid/care, police, welfare, numerous misc state/fed services)
The idea being that being taxed into a dangerous spot is not nearly as serious as you make it out to be because it's either nonexistent or would be worse without the taxes.

Empire was showing you that most money is taken from people not even close to the verge of welfare, in direct refutation of your claim that giving to the very-needy hurts the little-bit-needy too much. that's the point.
