Welfare and Voting

over 10 years

This question has been on my mind for a while now. Should people on welfare have the right to vote? Discuss. I am merely interested in others' opinions.

If you voted 'Other' and chose to comment below, please elaborate. Don't be a dips*** like Diabolik

Since some people clearly can't see what I voted in the poll, I think that people on welfare should be allowed to vote.

What does "in a perfect world, things would be perfect" add to the discussion? Take it to the tautology thread.

How involved are you in the details of your parents' financial situation, Melody?

Mm that's offtopic, when I was referring to family I might not have been referring to my family. Besides, this topic wasn't about that--it's about welfare and voting. I simply wanted to come in and say that in a perfect world, welfare wouldn't be necessary. I think we all can agree on that, even if it's not attainable.

Yep, it's unfortunate that the government restricts pure capitalism because I reckon that if we had laissez-faire capitalism, it is likely that this perfect world will come soon

if all the people on welfare just got jobs at starbucks, the problem would be solved

BLACK POPULATION OF IDAHO: 0.8%

BLACK POPULATION OF MICHIGAN: 14%

DISCUSSION OF IDAHO IS AN INHERENTLY RACIST TOPIC. THE DIFFERENCE IS CLEARLY STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT.

I have a master's degree, dude - don't even try to use words you don't understand against me.

odd because you've been mmaking bachelor's level analogies at best.

what if we just told people they already voted but they forgot????

i think that we should just pay poor people not to vote - it cuts out the middle man

Or we can make sure voting is just on one day, and encourage most employers to make their poor employees work on that day. Also, we should make it really inconvenient to vote.

You are 17 years old and have no experience supporting yourself. Your worldview is limited to the asides you've overheard from your parents, or your friends, or what you see on TV or movies. You have no perspective on any of this stuff until you've actually lived it.

i never understood that - why do people complain about taxes if they all get returned anyway...

KillHimNotMe says

wow malaka that is a shame - if i made no money i wouldn't pay a penny over 20% in taxes

Yea, it's a really shame, the system is really *** up. Sometimes they end up paying like over 99% but then they get some back on their tax return.
