This question has been on my mind for a while now. Should people on welfare have the right to vote? Discuss. I am merely interested in others' opinions.
If you voted 'Other' and chose to comment below, please elaborate. Don't be a dips*** like Diabolik
Since some people clearly can't see what I voted in the poll, I think that people on welfare should be allowed to vote.
The people who are on welfare are probably the most important voice that is not heard. The people who can buy your items is what makes your jobs, and having more people that can buy will in turn create more jobs. If you have the welfare votes tell what they need help in, they can buy into the market, and bring more back in. Giving the rich all the control will make them overlook the real problem, and cause them to think that nothing is wrong. If you think that they don't know how to use it, give them the (wingless) education they need to satisfy your standards.
True. But this is at least educating people as to why people on welfare being unable to vote is a bad idea

you're trying to have a valid discussion enacting a law that would be similar to voting literacy tests, poll fees, etc. i don't see how you think it would be valid if you acknowledge how incredibly racial biased it would be.
I acknowledge that point and while I don't fully agree with those who voted no being racists (ignorance is a thing) it still doesn't reflect my view since 1. I voted yes 2. I asked the question to start this debate because as it says in the OP, I wanted to see what others thought. That does not make me or my thread racist

actually, if you read what i said and can still see the "people on welfare shouldn't vote" viewpoint as not racist, then, well, you're racist. racism doesn't always have to be an intentional thing.
What kinds of decisions do the higher classes make to prevent people from getting jobs?

I don't think anyone is saying that charity is bad, people are just saying that it isn't sufficient. Any society with a bunch of hungry and homeless people is bound to fail.
Ik, Ik. But I'm just saying we can work towards a more charitable people. That's really all I mean.
Yeah thats true, imagine if everyone gave up a percentage of their income(depending on how much they need it) in order to help out those who were really struggling in life. Oh well, sucks that it will never happen in the real world.

How about this, instead of just giving money, make them work for it? There are plenty of government jobs that can be done better, like construction, that need more people to do it in a more timely manner. Don't wanna work but still want a paycheck? win the lottery.
