This is a dedicated thread for users to bounce around and brainstorm on ideas for new roles, items, game mechanics or anything else to improve and build upon our beloved Mafia game.
Back in 2015 Sims made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas for roles since Lucid was looking to make some new ones (found here: https://epicmafia.com/topic/71173?page=1) That thread's dead now, but it's always good to try to bring the community together and come up with new stuff for the game.
Some of you might know my reputation for designing new roles and my passion for Mafia. EpicMafia is a pretty cool website and can always use some new stuff to spice up and remix the usual game formula, and I know a few of you have ideas of your own.

Two role suggestions. Feel free to offer alterations to them if you see fit.
Paramedic - similar to monk and angel. Sided with the town. Picks one player at night and the player is protected the following day. The picked player is protected from shots, knife attacks, voodoo, and lynches. Possibly anarchist explosions as well.
Ghost/specter - Sided with the mafia. Spooks one player at night and that player is blocked the following day. Player is unable to use items (shoot guns, throw snowballs, etc) and may also be unable to lynch. Could also block actions such as gov ots, hunter shots, invisible meetings.
Just suggestions because I don't know how difficult certain aspects of the role would be able to be implemented. I think the second role would be similar to secretary death gameplay, but I haven't actually seen that in action yet.
the role description suggests the butterfly chooses when to use its effect but doing it on death is fine too i guess
theres no reason it should be blocked since its not a visit-based effect although whether conversions happen before or after the butterfly effect is up to you
I don't think it scrambles the roles though, does it? I read it as de-converting everybody and respawning their items.
The game would have to somehow keep track of every user's original role even if they get converted so that the Butterfly could de-convert them, then.
If there is ever a role that scrambles the roles when it dies, then the game would somehow need to cut out a certain amount of roles from the "role pool" but keep the same number of roles of a certain alignment, I think.
Butterfly (revision) - Can restore everyone to their original roles once per game, along with that role's original items - Sided with village
Based on my own experimentation, I believe that in closed roles the roles are randomly predetermined at the creation of the game lobby, correct? Would there be a way for the game to remember that original role data and then reapply it when the Butterfly executes its action to the remaining players?
