This is a dedicated thread for users to bounce around and brainstorm on ideas for new roles, items, game mechanics or anything else to improve and build upon our beloved Mafia game.

Back in 2015 Sims made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas for roles since Lucid was looking to make some new ones (found here: https://epicmafia.com/topic/71173?page=1) That thread's dead now, but it's always good to try to bring the community together and come up with new stuff for the game.

Some of you might know my reputation for designing new roles and my passion for Mafia. EpicMafia is a pretty cool website and can always use some new stuff to spice up and remix the usual game formula, and I know a few of you have ideas of your own.

NOTE: If you're here to complain about Sandbox moderation or the site mods, please don't.

add the role patrol

Plumber
- Can visit one person every night.
- Can choose to clog, break, or patch their pipes.
- Clogged pipes will make whispers fail to go through.
- Broken pipes will make whispers always leak but hide names.
- Patched pipes will prevent leaking unless forced.
- Sided with the mafia.
- Does not attend mafia meetings.

removed the granny interaction because it's needless and overpowered (plumber would simply lead every mafia kill with granny in game)

does not attend mafia meetings because his utility is too strong to double as a killing mafia. also, you cant kill someone while clogging their pipes, plumbing 101

if you add the role attach it to the actual role page and just update the description its getting weird seeing every role made by "admin" even though they were made by someone else

in the morning they can choose someone to play a tune to and that person falls asleep that night.

Kind of interesting tbh. Maybe the person can actual dream under the same conditions (not visited) as well? I think more day action roles like these could expand the game quite a bit. .


Omg yeah!! If they sleep they can dream! And get a report like a dreamer.
there should be a function for nightmares too. Idk what a nightmare would show you. but it could be interesting.

Scrap everything I said just add the plumber please lucid

But for the second option it should only leak everything to the plumber, otherwise everyone knows there's a plumber and the person would just stop whispering, which is what the third option does (sort of)

I don't think its OP but as someone said above we could do with another strong mafia role

This is an absolutely fantastic role (if a little big, might be able to break it up into different roles) and should be added ASAP.

Call the mafia whisper-seeing role Wiretapper and the town counterpart an Eavesdropper, Wiretapper sounds more evil than Eavesdropper. I'm not sure about seeing who the chosen player whispers back and forth to, but I don't mind either way.

I don't really care for Sonicear, I don't think it would see much play.

Librarian's alright, though I'd prefer if it were a once-a-game choose at night kind of ordeal like my Librarian role, punishing the town for correctly killing a Mafia is something that should be used sparingly in my opinion.

Hearer is alright, but I'd call it something else, maybe Busybody? Lots of name rearrangement, I guess.

We don't have any roles to do with whispers:

Eavesdropper

- sided with the mafia

- at night, picks 1 person to listen to

- during the day, can see all of their whispers (and who they whisper to)

- if visits loudmouth, dies

Sonicear

- sided with third party

- can see all whispers

- wins if everyone currently alive whispers him

Hearer

- sided with the mafia

- during the day, can see all whispers, but they are anonymous

Librarian (someone else made this)

- if lynched or killed, during the next day people can only whisper.

Listener

- town sided eavesdropper

- during the night, picks 1 person to listen to

- during the day, sees all their whispers (including people who whisper them)

- if visits loudmouth, dies

- will only die if two different alignments try to kill them (e.g. a mafia and a vig, a maf and a ww)

instead of a meme killing role or a role without use mafia have to plan when to push on widow to make an autowin situation or to make town only able to use guns, etc. Whilst town try to get widow shot.

another use for it is with interrogator. A good role that isnt used because when in a setup, no one NLs to stop gator kills.

But it does honestly seem like the secretary can really mess up a win for the town . I had noticed that Secretary is almost like a virgin for the town since it allows the mafia a free day where they are generally not in danger but, obviously there could be knives,guns, etc that could still threaten the mafia.

NOTE 4: I don't think quoting things over and over again is going to make Lucid pay more attention to your stuff. Maybe try rewording it and adding to it if you feel like it was overlooked the first time?
