Question RE: Ethereal

The question posed in this thread is not necessarily one of the moderation team, the site owner lucidrains/Phillip Wang, or other moderators/admins on the moderation team of this website.

People are calling for Ethereal's head because they were recently promoted from role moderator to moderator. The people calling for Ethereal to be demodded are generally viewing and accusing Ethereal as a predator.

My question is, if you guys care so much about Ethereal being a potential predator, should you not be arguing that Ethereal should be site banned? (Personally, I don't think Ethereal should be site banned. She has done her time for being banned and is currently a very big help for the moderators and cheating investigation team, in my opinion.) Your argument seems to not want to rid the website of possible predators, but to just make sure they don't become moderators. It doesn't really make much sense to me.

And even if Ethereal is demodded, guess what? She's still going to help with Cheating cases and finding banned users... nothing is going to change (except that she won't be able to do reports). Is that really going to be a sigh of relief for all of you?

So if Ethereal is demodded, what difference is it to you people if she's still allowed to be on the website...?

EDIT:

I am in favour of demodding Ethereal to please the community fwiw (I was before I even made this thread), but if we do that I don't really get why they are even allowed to be on the site anyways. I'm seeing these arguments I just don't agree with them; potential is potential at the end of the day, and I believe Ethereal should be allowed to stay on the site

i'm vehemently against arcbell being modded because it was only in april he threatened to do something to connor to get ian unbanned and afterwards revealed he was going to hijack the em userbase for his new site

but i feel a little biased because he broke a promise w/ coni-chan :(

as i said in the other thread, i refuse to believe that there were no better (or perhaps, safer) options for doing said job than sammie and arcbell
I've applied to be a mod 3x over different admins in this past year but nobody knows me because I don't circlejerk competitive.............

There can be those people and they don't have to be pedophiles, cheaters, and hackers.

"- He has posted a link to a directory where child P*** could be found.

The list of times he was unbanned and rebanned every single time for cheating:

I've addressed this 10+ times both in this thread and in BearGuru's but we both know you can't read to save your life.

Edit: I apologize you acknowledged in your last post the possibility that it had been, that's a step in the right direction from before so sorry for that unnecessary shot.

idk imo you shouldn't defend or associate with pedophiles it shouldn't ever be endorsed as a thing that's ok OR allow them to be in positions where they might act out esppp in positions of power but I understand why some ppl stop caring, caring doesnt really get you anywhere on this site anyways.

Like, do I get why Ethereal is lying? Yes.

At the time they enjoyed they wanted attention even if it was negative, and didn't care if they were lambasted for it.

Things are different, they want a clean image, it's not her fault she has these tendencies, of course you're going to claim that you were lying.

Just because it is natural to want to lie about it does not mean you should let them, however.
