is the R word a "slur" against? I'm failing to comprehend how a word can universally be a slur without the definition or origin of the word being derogatory.
I'm failing to see why I have 2 violations for a word I was using in context of it's definition:
people who used the term specifically to belittle/invalidate mentally handicapped people to a gross extent.

no one will attempt to make a rebuttal against my last post because it's literally impossible, The word crazy when used to a friend is just saying you're wacky, wild, ect. If used against a person with a mental disability it's a slur. The R word is the exact same, so how is crazy still allowed? someone tell me

different words carry different weights. you don't get to decide what's offensive and what's not. hope this helps.
so who decided R is offensive?
mentally ill/people with disabilities who said they don't like being called such

Dude, it's not even the literal meaning. The literal meaning carries a connotation on its back. It's like baggage you can't get rid of.
You're ignoring the context of a slur. The R word is offensive because it contain a literal definition that became an excuse to be insulting. There are however other definition and uses for the word that don't directly pertain it's it's primary use.
In all other uses of slurs defining people as the slur makes it a slur, but the slurs are not a literal representation of the people being slurred.

We are going to censor this earth until every word is a slur.
soon "Hi" will be a slur because Hi and high are homonyms and "high" can mean to be under the influence of drugs and we don't want BearGuru being influenced here on epicmafia

I was going to include pranay in my post, but I thought better of it. Shame on you!

the marginal difference between people who use the r-word and people who dont isn't very slight but i'd very much side with the people who have less of an issue of omitting one word out of their vocabulary for the sake of moral decency over people who continually use it despite the connotation behind it (and how easy it is just say something else in replace of it)
You're forcing this on people with the excuse of protecting our imaginary R-worded friends as if the word only has one definition and that definition is universally offensive.
you can very well find a website, place, or even group of people where you may say the r word and other slur you can imagine, but do you really have an issue with not saying it here?
