is the R word a "slur" against? I'm failing to comprehend how a word can universally be a slur without the definition or origin of the word being derogatory.

I don't, n is a term specially used against black people during slavery and during the time of the jim crow law, and in part still today in america mostly.
R and crazy have no correlation because R was a term used for people who have learning disabilities while crazy is for people who have MENTAL disabilities

fwiw, i think the people who want to use it have a point because the world is not black and white. harrold's post isn't directed at anyone and im sure a lot of people (connor) will disagree with me but the usage of the R word has been around for ages and only recently has it become more offensive to use in light of millenials and tumblr and anyone denying such never lived in the 90s where cartoons used to use the R word on a daily basis
