I would like to have a thought provoking and civil conversation about ISIS.....what you think will stop them, what will make it worse. Please make this a civil and appropriate discussion. i am looking for a good conversation not a flame war.
Islam isn't an ideology. Islamism is. They are not the same. They should not be confused as the same. Gamal Nasser and Mohammed Morsi were not of the same ideology. Muammar Gaddafi and Mullah Omar were not of the same ideology. They are different.
If ISIS believe in killing others to achieve their goals and a majority of Muslims believe in peace, how are you going to categorize them together when the thing you want to eradicate is only present in one group
Eradicating Islam = eradicating Muslims. Tell me, how would you get an entire religion to convert from their life-long beliefs? What if they refuse? Throw them in prison? But wait, wouldn't that also be taking away their freedom of belief?
I said eradicate Islam, not eradicate Muslims. Big difference. Islam is just a set of beliefs. We want to change people's mindset not kill them. Nice holocaust strawman though.

Put gay people to death. Says so right there in the text. You don't need to be brainwashed to join up with the WBC - you just need to read the Bible and take it literally.
Hell, if the Bible is correct then WBC are the good guys. They're doing the Lord'd work. If the Quran is correct then ISIS are the good guys. See, isn't it wonderful to respect other people's religious beliefs?

There are plenty of incredibly good people who are, indeed, Islamic, so please tell me how they must be eradicated from the world, and not people like you, who think similar ideas as those who started the Holocaust?
If y'all think that this is a problem directly with Quran/Muslims in general there are 1 billion Muslims in the world and buddy, if they were trying to convert through violence, you would be converted/dead by now
I'm not saying it's representative, I'm saying IS is what you get when you take the Quran literally, just as WBC is what you get when you take the Bible literally.

Taking IS as representative of Islam is like taking the Westboro Baptist Church as representative of Christianity. If Wesboro had as much money as IS do, they'd be doing the same crap.
I mean, it's literally called Islamic State. The movement is based on Islam and its teachings. You can talk about mistranslations and historical context until you're blue in the face. It doesn't change the fact that ISIS is based on a literal application of what's written in the Quran and that's the main problem here. They're taking these 14th century writings seriously and they think that everything they do is right because it's the word of Allah. We aren't going to get anywhere solving this problem by respecting their religious beliefs, because their religious beliefs *are* the problem. How many of the 9/11 hijackers do you think would still flown planes into those buildings if they didn't think they were meeting imaginary virgins on the other side?
