I would like to have a thought provoking and civil conversation about ISIS.....what you think will stop them, what will make it worse. Please make this a civil and appropriate discussion. i am looking for a good conversation not a flame war.

This has always been the case, too
It doesn't necessarily mean that they're wrong, but they're using religion for all the wrong reasons
Here's a hint- religion is a recruiting tool, and their motivations are political

Everyone knows how ETA were really Islamist militants merely pretending to be bombing people for a Basque homeland, and the Khmer Rouge murdered 25% of their male population because of strict adherence to the Koran.
Why don't you just say "if there was a button to get rid of ISIS, I would" instead of choosing to get rid of a religion that preaches love and charity?
Is it though? It's a discussion about the role of Islam in the Islamic State problem.
We shouldn't be afraid of them. We just need to work towards ridding the world of their poisonous ideologies.
Rid the world of their ideology, not rid the world of the people who believe the ideology. It stands to reason if there was no Islam there would be no Islamic State.
And you don't think it wouldn't just be another terrorist group unaffiliated with religion? without religion, there are no more extremists? no more terrorists?
Well I don't see many atheist terrorist groups around, do you?

easier != better
I understand, but can you expand what you mean in terms of what we're speaking of?
I'm not saying to stop believing any form of religion considering I am an agnostic Christian, but if you look at all forms of war, religion is definitely a huge factor in most of them

Let's start by banning the Republicans and go from there
"Religion" used to be the primary method of fueling war because there's few things people hold in higher esteem. Imagine that applying to a "Religious" state and people abusing the power "religion" has over people to get them to move.
Even George Bush called upon "god" when advocating for war.
Eradicating Islam = eradicating Muslims. Tell me, how would you get an entire religion to convert from their life-long beliefs? What if they refuse? Throw them in prison? But wait, wouldn't that also be taking away their freedom of belief?
Man, what a horrible opinion.
Well my hope is that one day more people will question their own beliefs and realise that the Quran isn't the word of God and that subscribing to an ideology based on false premises is the wrong way to live your life.
I never said I wanted to force anyone to change their mind. My hope is that they'd do it on their own.

Edit: No, this is definitely hate speech

Answer me Grannie, I want an idea of your exact thoughts on how you plan on eradicating the idea of Islam
