I would like to have a thought provoking and civil conversation about ISIS.....what you think will stop them, what will make it worse. Please make this a civil and appropriate discussion. i am looking for a good conversation not a flame war.

Always having your name pop up in thread titles and discussions, then realising that it's not you they're referring to.

But it's silly to loop America as a whole, as those numbers will vary drastically throughout each state.

Blue - States with no state religions

that's pretty interesting tbh and surprising to me, although i still suspect that religion plays a very heavy influence on a majority of those places

Yeah most likely. The US and Italy would be good examples of that.

Just because they have no state religions, it doesn't mean that they're countries without religious views.

Actually, that's exactly what it means.

Yeah but jagger was just saying that the country doesn't revolve around religion. Which I took to mean secular.

Given the most atheist states are North Korea and China, are they really better to live in? Hmmm.

Worshipping bush-men in the Amazon rainforest VS living in China

i don't think that's how that works.

it really is bizarre that there's a group of people that virulently dedicate themselves to theism and identify in opposition to it. at least to me.

Weird to you, as a white boy living in 21st-century America who has probably never visited a worse part of the world

i'm criticizing whiteboy atheists who are in teh same category as myself (:

Agreed, Epicmafia moderator Bearissoslow - it is only OK to oppose certain practices if you are a member of one of the minorities oppressed by said practices.

yes, whiteboys get oppressed too much.

Reading is hard.

On second thought I'm not sure how much of the world has really turned secular in its politics.

I dunno. I feel like religion in on itself exposes a lot about the way cultures have evolved and thought over the past few millennia.

Most cultures have evolved to a point where religion isn't something to revolve around anymore, and surprise surprise, those are the best places to live.

I would argue that most cultures are still heavily relying on religion, tbh.
