I couldn't find a similar topic so let's do it in here let's dive STRAIGHT IN

only make original roles, nothing like 'batman'

Hijacker - Non-Meeting Mafia role that doesn't do anything. Upon dying, possesses a random town player. This means though his body is in the graveyard, he lives on through the town character, and can even speak through that persons mouth as if he he were venting him. Because of this, it will quickly become obvious who the hijacker possessed. The hijacked person counts as a live mafia player, so the town will have to decide whether it's worth lynching him or not. Maybe he is a detective and would still be worth keeping alive, or a sanity confirmed cop, etc. Maybe shrinks or visiting a priest will cure the possessed person and properly kill the hijacker.

Bo oby Trapper - Mafia role that can lay down a trap during the day once per game. Upon laying the trap, a system message will read 'Somebody laid a trap!' so it's anonymous. After this system message, the very next person to speak that day blows up, and then the trap is gone. For the rest of the day, nobody will be allowed to speak if they don't want to die, but they will be able to continue speaking to each other in whispers. People wearing vests can activate the trap and lose their vest.

-selects two people and if they're of the same alignment then they swap roles
-if of the two selected one is maf and one is town then they get a message saying "You received a suit!" but will not role-swap
-if a third party and town are selected both become blue.
-if a third party and maf are selected then both become traitor
-does not visit.

Predicts 1 death automatically each night, and has to somehow prevent it. Wins if prevented 5 deaths and lived to the day before the last.

Every night votes to save somebody. If that person were to die, a random person dies in their place. Wins if this happens twice.

-Can't vote to not lynch.

Medical Examiner.

Can pick someone every night. If they die that night or the next day the Medical Examiner Substitutes their death message with a fake one that they make up.

Sided with the mafia.

Carpenter (Inspired by Johnny from Ed, Edd, and Eddy)
-Sided with town.
-Night 1 has to choose a player to give his board to.
-Every day from then on the board will tell the carpenter something about the person he gave it to, similar to penguin reports. The board counts as an item, but it will not report itself being in the person's possession (it might report boards given by other carpenters though).
-If stolen, the board will start reporting about the thief who took it.
-The carpenter has a 50% chance to retrieve his board each day when the person holding it is dead.

-Third Party
-Wins with Autocrat or Mastermind. If both exist, the minion(s) will be divided as evenly between the two as is possible.
-The Mastermind or Autocrat is aware of who his minions are.
-Starts with a random item from this list: Gun, Vest, Bomb, Torch (will make them work like lightkeeper if killed)
-If they start with a gun, there is a small chance it will start out fabricated.
-If the Minion's leader votes them in the lynch, they WILL die, no matter how many votes they get or if someone else is also lynched. If their leader does not vote them, they have a chance to not die even if they receive a majority of the votes.

-Can choose someone during the day once per game.
-That person will become caffeinated, and stay up all night.
-The caffeinated person will receive a report including all of their visitors that night, and they have a 50% chance to avoid being killed if an attempt on their life is made.

Basically, they can make someone into a priest minus the traitor conversion for one night.

-Selects one person.

-That person is silenced to the town, but the person sees their messages in the chat. Basically it's like the town ignores them.

-Third party

-Every other day and night, the gargoyle turns to stone, and can't participate in day chat, though it can see it. It also cannot use any items it owns.

-During it's stone period, if anyone attempts to kill the gargoyle, they are killed instead. It is publicly announced that they killed themselves.

-kicks someone in the shins every night to give up their gun/bread/vest/crystal/key
-receives the item the player will get on the following day (the player who gets their item stolen is given a system message: "My shins are bruised...")
-only receives the first item the previous player got
-cannot kick someone in the shins twice in a row
-the player who was kicked in the shins cannot vote the following day due to excruciating pain.

I know its OP but I just thought it was funny.

-Sided with town.
-Chooses one person to visit each night.
-That person will receive a system message someone else received that day, as well as a message warning them that they were visited by the informant (So they don't think they received a gun, or were poisoned or something).

Sort of like an enchantress but for the journalist instead.

-third party, wins if it survives OR if the person they chose survives the game even if they themselves die

Ghost Whisperer: (idk if this has been thought of before but idc)
-Each night, chooses a dead individual to speak to
- can hear everything that individual says the following day
- wins if they can successfully lead a lynch on the individual that killed the ghost
-if dead person is town role that was was lynched, they win if mafia wins that day
-if dead person was a third or a maf they win by getting themselves lynced

Clumsy Mafia
- Appears to self and other mafia as a vanilla mafia.
- Is revealed to everyone in the town.

Example setup:

2 vanilla mafia, 1 clumsy mafia, 7 villagers

Town would act like they don't know the clumsy mafia in order to get really strong partner reads.

-Has option to become toast
-Once toasted, user cannot vote but instead cries out
-Feast is held night after choosing to become toast (party)
-Toasted Bread dies next day but can choose to poison anybody

-Can research one person each night.
-Will learn what that person's role's ability is.
-Roles whose ability is to start the game with an item, like the miller's mafia suit, the sheriff's gun, etc. will not appear as an ability.

Abilities include, but are not limited to: Gives Items (includes assoc guns, bombs, creepy dolls, etc.), Investigates (all forms of cop, tracker, watcher, etc.), Saves Lives, Kills, Tampers with Items (thief, saboteur), Prevents Conversion (samurai is included here), Pointlessly Visits (fool, sleepwalker), Throws Parties, Shares Wisdom (penguin, caroler), Has Intuition (dreamer, etc.), Poisons, Plays with Fire, Blocks Abilities, Weaves Curses, Learns what Others Know (pathologist, paparazzi, journalist), Drives Insane, Is Loud, Votes Twice, Overrides Lynch. etc. etc. etc.

*Roles which do two or more things, such as Santa or Nurse will show all of their effects in the report. A baker might also show up as giving items twice, not sure.

*Meeting mafia roles will not show up as a killing role unless their role can do so independently, for example if there was a hitman who participated in the night meeting they would show up as a killing role.

*assassination reveals no action, target simply dies during end of the day

Made a bunch for real and even made icons for one or two of them. But nobody took them seriously. They assume they are overpowered but if I was given a chance for at least one of them I could explain more about them. Maybe give more insight on whats what and how it may or may not work. I guess chances are they may just glitch up and not actually work at all...which I suppose could happen.....
