This is meant to be a sort of master thread for all role mechanics and interactions.

Note: This is not some strategy guide for each role but simply states role interactions and such that may not be obvious which in turn can be used to strategize things.

Mechanics will be either be placed on the role which performs the action or affected by it. Sometimes both. IDK.

I'm following the order of the role list, too lazy to alphabetize them, just use the search function.

Red Text are things i'm not sure of or want to test/confirm. please post games/screenshots for reference

Surgeon

  • Will stop mimic from converting to stolen role

Insane Cop/Non-sane Cops

  • Will have a suit
  • If role is stolen, the stealer will see which cop they are

Sherriff

  • If mimic'd etc., gun will have a 50% chance of revealing like a normal gun
  • fabbed guns will always take priority over any gun

Deputy

  • If mimic'd etc., gun will have a 50% chance of revealing like a normal gun
  • fabbed guns will always take priority over any gun

Drunk

  • Will roleblock the hooker (takes priority)

Bulletproof

  • Receiving a vest will stack with its vest like normal

Bleeder

  • While bleeding, can take any number of gun shots, bomb explosions, and voodoo (will continually get chills) but won't die until the end of the day
  • Can survive famine even without bread (will bleed instead as usual)

Bomb

  • A vested bomb will still kill the killer but bomb will not die

Granny

  • Will not die from stab wounds (will never bleed to death)
  • Visits the person they kill

Hunter

  • Still activates if gov/don OTs to them

Agent

  • If a role is missing, that role has been converted

Celebrity

  • Will always appear as celebrity despite being converted/stolen unless oracle or crystal reveals them again
  • If celeb is janned and guised, celeb will be guised without any trace except for the usual (reports, patho meeting, etc.)

Loudmouth - Using a key will make loudmouth visit themself

Mason

  • Can kill Cult, Cthulhu, and Killer (though the killer one shouldn't be but w/e)
  • Will mason mafia if driven to mafia with masoning
  • Will mason mafia if monkey'd to mafia without mismasoning
  • masons in the first conversion to happen, then all other roles (cult/borg/etc.), yak is last to convert
  • Masoning a person who is being mimicked on the same night will cause the mason not to go through (mimic will take original role and the masoned person will see themselves as mason they are actually blue)
  • Cures Cthulhu insanity
  • Not affect by Cthulhu

Jailer

  • If gator and jailer jail/gator each other, they will appear in the other's cell alone
  • Takes priority over chef meetings (aka if chef also targets A, A will appear in jail still but should get the chef report anyway)
  • Jailers share a meeting and will be in the jail room together
  • Visits "undefined" if they are alone
  • Cannot jail-kill if snowballed (still has meeting)

Chef

  • Chef will still go through when lynched
  • Meetings goes through suits or acted selves (aka actress will appear as actress)
  • apparently this is prioritized over jail meetings
  • Chefs share a meeting

Turncoat

  • If they are shrinked, will they be immortal to maf kills?

Enchantress

  • Crystalling an oracle is useless, they will only show their orc target not the crystal's

Priest

  • Only kills werewolf if they are eaten by the werewolf, werewolf failing will not be killed
  • Does not detect zombies visiting them
  • Self-vists
  • Will be auto-killed by trapper and interceptor

Trapper

  • Will be revealed like Interceptor does
  • Can auto-kill the priest

Baker

  • Famine also happens when they veg or sui
  • Amn on baker will stop famine

Ghoul

  • Will not redirect jail/gator kills
  • Self-visits but will visit their target if they are redirecting a kill

Penguin

  • Noot not
  • Can give reports of who ninja visited

Justice

  • Puts non-hostile third as town alignment (aka town and vivor are same)
  • Will report miller and villager as same alignment (compared to sane/insane cop which gets them different)

Treestump

  • Can be converted into cyborg (Ty LekkuLover)
  • Can be maided
  • Can die via voodoo (as well as arson and strongman)

Bride

  • Proposal cannot be accepted if the player is already in love (via lover, cupid, heartbreaker etc.) cannot accept if that person is lover or heartbreaker
  • If bride brides disguised person, the proposal will go to the person in the graveyard, however the person in the graveyard can't accept it, leading the guiser to veg

Monkey

  • Umm, probably too many to list
  • See lover Do to X. will cause X to see lover message but won't actually be in love and lover will still have lover meeting until not monkey'd
  • If monkey chooses amn as first target, monkey's role will turn into second target's role. Amn will stay amn, second target's role will stay same. (ty xfire1994)

Virgin

  • its death message "virgin has been sacrificed!" will always appear when they die
  • gov OT counts as being lynched (ty FilthyLawn)

Blacksmith

  • Vests infinitely stack

Oracle

  • If vested and hit, will reveal orc target. Allows for multiple orcing in a game
  • Can update already revealed roles (aka orcing culted celeb will show them as cult)

Dreamer

  • Includes hostile thirds if maf is dead
  • If there's a gambler alive, will receive a dream in the middle of the night regardless if visited. This allows for dreamer to have 2 dreams in 1 day (1 at night 1 at day)

Lightkeeper

  • Does not turn off the lights if vested and hit thank goodness

Keymaker

  • Keys cause a role to self visit. This can make loudmouth message say they visited themselves and can make Cthulhu insane (ty riskitforthebiscuit)
  • You will still be sent to jail if you key yourself in but cannot be killed

Gunsmith

  • Their guns will be overridden by fab guns

Tinkerer

  • If there's a gambler alive, will receive a gun at night even if visited
  • Will not receive a gun if there are no night meetings

Mimic

  • If surgeon'd/shrinked, will steal role of person (they turn blue) but mimic will remain as mimic and can mimic again
  • Can steal roles of non-hostile thirds
  • Stealing cop reveals their sanity
  • If it steal lm/gallis/etc., will still appear as blue to themselves
  • mimicking someone who is masoned on the same night will take their original role but the one who is masoned will appear masoned to himself but is actually blue
  • mimics can mimic lover, rival, prophet, alien, sidekick, survivor, and angel (otherwise they turn amn)

Butterfly

  • Changes lyncher and angel targets

Trickster

  • Holding its own bomb will reveal self like anarchist
  • Gives out fabbed items including bombs which will not detonate and will cause the holder to veg (ty riskitforthebiscuit)

in the role description you see he will visit the target, and self visit in most situation ...

I will explain further which kind of visit mimic gives:

If mimicing town: Mimic will visit 3 times: 1 hidden self visit, 1 hidden visit target, 1 normal visit target

The 2 hidden visits cant be watched and driven (can be drunked and trapped) The normal visit actually has no purpose. Tracker will only see the mimic visit self and the target, cause its the system message removes same name in reports.

If mimicing maf or hostile 3rd: Tracker will see mimic will visit 2 times: 1 hidden self visit and 1 normal visit target. The mechanic for this kind of mimic is like above

We have here, in the actions order:

1. Mimic (A) on turncoat (B). Maf (C) visits and kill mimic (A)
2. Mimic (A) turns into turncoat. Turncoat (B) turns into blue
6. Turncoat (A) activates its new mechanic. It will turn into traitor if maf tries to kill it. Too bad Maf (C) already killed it in Step 1, so (A) dies as turncoat

Some notes with the steps:
Step 3 is used with granny and bp
Step 4 is used with lk, butterfly ...
I shouldn't have written step 5 there, it does nothing

Ok. With mimic so far. I assume the actions with converting happen in this order:

1. All old role actions and mechanics (except convert)
2. Converting
3. New roles death + vest check
4. New roles effect if die (in role description, it says die, not "was killed")
5. Night end cut line
6. New role other mechanics

- mimic is a visiting role,
- all role actions are made by mimic'd town person before they turn blue,
- mimic on granny is immune to any kills,
- shrink/enforcer/surgeon on mimic will prevent mimic from converting, but mimic'd person turns blue if town,

- mimic will be gunned/vested if receives a role which gets a gun/vest in the beginning without stealing items, but still can be killed at the same night despite getting BP role,
- mimic on people whose role action are made once in game and has already been used (angel, enchantress, governor, ghoul) will get another role action.

Ok full mason mechanic:

Masoning has 2 steps: checking step (S1) and visiting step (S2a or S2b)

S1: check the person (called X) to see if they can be masoned or not. If they can, go S2a. If they r mafs or cult or killer, go S2b. In this step, mason does NOT visit

S2a: Masons visit X to convert them. Mason visit is counted as a normal group visit. The method of this visit is converting. This can be driven, making maf AND cult can be masoned.

S2b: Masons will visit X, this is also a normal group visit, but has no method.

Notes:

If maf is visited by masons: that only maf will visit and kill masons. This is a normal visit, method: killing

If cult is visited by masons: cult will visit themselves and kill themselves. This is a normal visit, method: killing

Special case with driver : M = mason, A is mason target, A is driven with B

- If A is town, B is maf: (Mason visits to mason maf, maf visits mason back and kill them), result: mason dies, when B is masoned
- If A is town, B is cult : (Mason visits to mason cult, cult visits themselves - oh wait - actually A - thanks driver - to kill them), result: A dies, B is now masoned
- If A is maf/cult, B is town : (The check means go S2b, masons visit B for fun), result: nothing happens
- If A is cult, B is maf: (Masons visit maf for fun, maf visits to kill mason), result: mason dies.
- If A is maf, B is cult: (Masons visit cult for fun, cult visits to kill maf!!!), result: maf dies

Heres the basic: If mismason, maf will go to kill the mason that night. Mismason can be saved normally, and maf can be killed. So mismason mechanic is actually give maf an extra killing visit to mason

If Bomb gets killed and mimiced same night, it still explodes as usual and kills it's attacker but appears on GY as Blue and Mimic becomes Bomb.

I think drunk blocks the visitor getting to the visited but they still visit. Drunk stops the second path of a visit to happen

Nvm, I've just seen the game where BG didn't save yak, but I wonder if it doesn't work on 50-50 chance between save yak and "doc-save".

tested: trapper cant kill a person that got his visit drunked

So, we can say drunk:

-Turn all frontdoor visit into useless backdoor visit

-An useless backdoor visit is only a visit to tracker, it is a not a visit to everything else

-Loudmouth got its buggy message cause it releases when the visit occurs, but the names only reveals when the visit ends

Mega drunked test results:

-Drunk roleblocks every kind of visit

-All kinds of frontdoor visit becomes backdoor if drunked

-If a roleblocked person visits priest, priest gets "You spent a lonely night report"

-If a roleblocked person visits granny, no one dies

-If a roleblocked person visits thlu, no one thlued

-If a roleblocked person visits turncoat, no turns

-If a roleblocked person visits loudmouth, a buggy message appears.

-But if you track a roleblocked person, you will still see his visiting

-Bonus in group meeting: If the first one voting gets roleblocked, the first one will do backdoor visit, and his visit does nothing, while the second one voting will do frontdoor visit

They will get a message saying they was visited by no one

which is weird, since roleblocked person still visit

I could say, priest needs a front door non-roleblocked visit to count as a person who visited their church

ok I got the mason thing wrong

Here is what I wrote 2 years ago

OK heres how it works
- When mason choose a target, if that target is town, mason visits and masons that target.
- If that target is cult or maf, mason does nothing (mason still visits that target)
- If a maf is visited by mason, maf comes visit and kills the mason
- If a cult is visited by mason, cult visits himself and kills himself

Special case with driver : M = mason, A is mason target, A is drove with B

- If A is town, B is maf partner : mason dies, when B is masoned
- If A is town, B is cult : A dies (not masoned), B is now masoned
- If A is maf, B is town : nothing happens
- If A is cult, B is maf: mason dies. Nothing else happens.

And the conversed order is :
Maid -> 3rd -> Masoned -> Yakked -> Mimiced/ town roled (you mimic someone else)

Mason night meeting works like this

S2b: X will visit and kill masons. Masons dont visit this time. But I remember X visit cant be driven, or drunked but can be caught by watcher. Weird.

S2c: mason simply visits and kill cult. I think this works like S2a, mason tries to convert cult, but cult mechanic makes them auto die when visited by mason

Also I think the thlued stuff was written to be cured by masoned. Or by converting
