The mod team has recently been discussing how to moderate hipfiring. The current precedent is to consider it a trolling violation in red heart games and a game throwing (GT) violation in competitive games.
We're deciding between the current precedent and two other options.
Trolling throughout. The idea behind this is that game rules are game rules and that moderation should be standardized between red and gold heart games.
Game throwing throughout. This plays to the idea that the action of hipfiring is generally done without "playing to win" and as such falls under game throwing.
Please vote in the poll and if you feel that you have a point that you would like to make, post in this thread. If you have another option that you think is viable, please also let us know!
Gamethrowing is gamethrowing. If you want to moderate red heart games less strictly - do just that... and don't bother to moderate gamethrowing violations there. Why make an exception for this one particular type of throwing compared to the rest?

How about just use some common f*cking sense and give GT vios to people who are intentionally trying to play against their win con in a serious game whether it be red or gold hearts.
Give trolling vios to people who are trolling to the point where it ruins the experience of other players.
Seriously im sure your mods are not complete morons who cant make a fair decision based on a certain set of circumstances.
Surely theres better things to focus on as admin. Setting out hard and fast rules where hipfiring is auto trolling/GT is just dumb from the outset.
Fun setups in red hearts (nearly every gun setup) should be just played for fun anyway so unless the hip firing is ruining everyones fun then just let it go...
Goldhearts should be taken slightly more seriously I guess so instant shooting before any reads is probably a vio. Just use your head and discretion please.
You guys dont have to have hard and fast strict rules for everything. You are here to moderate the site not be fun police.
If you wanna do something beyond the general maintenance and support of the community (your job). How about trying to do things that are gonna actually make a difference and possibly expand the user base / retain the userbase.
No reason to consider red and gold as same. However, in some red games if the hipfired is on someone you singled out, then it is gt. If you shot randomly then it is trolling. In gold both are gt because you know the stakes are high.
Right, and if the cop intentionally checks no one on autowin but tries really really hard and has clear intent to win after checking no one they should get a trolling vio
how is it anything but trolling. I definitely think you should at least mention it in the game throwing violation thing as its hard to know that you are going to be punished for it.
