i would be more okay with this if it were implemented in earlier games, but yeah i completely agree. I get that with each region species of pokemon are adapted to better fit the climates and stuff but they've never done anything like this before, so to suddenly do it now is kind of confusing. (still though i would give my life for ice vulpix/ninetails)

It's definitely welcome in my opinion, but I'm worried that half of Gen VII will just be these new alternate forms like how it was in Gen VI with mega evolutions. I guess for me I don't really care when it's implemented in the series, I just care about the execution of it all.

I'm having trouble understanding the point of an Alola form pokemon. Are they like supposed to be subspecies of the original pokemon they're based on? Why are they just making reskins/retypes of originals anyway, Exeggcutor's Alola form could have easily been an evolution of Exeggcutor for example. How many other pokemon are they going to do this with?

Is this going to be like mega evolutions where they take up like half of the number of new pokemon revealed? Because that would suck. A lot. It's not difficult to invent new pokemon, fans have done it for 20 years and there's billions of species both living and extinct to base things on and nearly every species has enough genetic variety to base off a couple different pokemon on it; that's not even counting the possibilities for pokemon not based on living organisms.

I'm not knocking the idea, it could be cool if done correctly. I'm just questioning if this is the correct route.

"the pokemon games are always the same, it gets boring."

"holy poop how dare they change this detail, way to ruin pokemon"

I never said the game is getting old and repetitive, but hey maybe I just don't like the way this game is shaping up. Just because they're innovating does not mean it's good/

it wasnt at you in particular, but these are opinions that are flooding the internet

At first I was with popplio, but now I think it's poppliNO.

Rowlet's evolution looks kind of like Jules from Pulp Fiction if you ignore that it's a hood, not an afro. I think I like him most now.

Cat-guy's evolution (I don't even remember its name) looks more or less like every fire starter's final evolution since Blaziken and therefore blech.
