This website is far past the point where having ranked and unranked games in main lobby makes sense.
Both sandbox and main lobby suffer from this weird choice. Unranked games should go in sandbox, which will boost the ever slowing population of 12 person closed setups, and ranked games should go in main lobby.
Without the influx of unranked games being made, competitive games will not be second paged so fast, and thus fill more often, allowing more than 2 setups to be played each round.

REDACTED sent a message to REDACTED 1d 23h ago « Back Reply how to do so how do u do it? u mean ill get yellow stars and can play serious games?
I personally taught this player how to play over the course of about 8 featured games. He's great, too, imo. I taught a few others as well while farming points.

Considering that analysis, your sociological contribution carries a lot of value here.

can you show me a single example of a "wait...there are serious games" person?

I think this community refuses to improve itself because it is the amalgamate collective conscious of tumblr meets 4chan, and thus, hates itself.

I bet you could incentivize these new users with some sort of e-Java club... think of all of the slam poems and free smells.

This thread was created as a response to the massive amount of players I met playing unranked/featured games while getting this account to 1500 points who unanimously expressed that all they wanted to do was play serious mafia but that they didn't know serious mafia existed until they joined my featured setup, and that until doing so they were considering quitting the site because of their lack of interest in unranked games.
Then they went on to ask me a host of other questions that illuminated how harmed this website is by its own poor design, such as whether featured setups cost 2 hearts.
When you say this website doesn't attract new users who are looking for competitive mafia, you are flat out wrong. If you join unranked games, it will take you less than ten minutes to find one.
This website attracts new users just fine. It doesn't retain them.

Nothing wrong with having a fake beer with some fake ladies, bruh.

Anyone who thinks I suggested anything remotely similar to competitive lobby, which I've always opposed, is illiterate/stupid and unranked partyyyyyyy games are probably their idea of going to the bar to hit on chicks.
One mega lobby that displays double the number of games at once is the solution. We will call it "Main Box". As the site continues to contract in active users that play the game, consolidation is the best way to approach this so we increase the likelihood of games filling and retaining new users.
It would likely benefit both lobbies since they'd each have access to a playerbase that would never even see heir games otherwise
It's cute that you think by voting on something it'll happen.
If votes don't matter, then why did you bother to vote?
Anyway, the unranked game requirement is a pointless fossil at this point, non-banned users don't benefit from playing whatever party setup happens to be popular in unranked at the moment and banned users can just farm unranked anyways.
Besides, it's inconsistent to let people game-throw and cheat in unranked in main, but not ranked, even though to a new user the only difference is the fact ranked takes hearts, which might not be significant if you're brand new. And playing unranked doesn't help a new user learn either way. Besides if you sing up for a mafia website, usually you have some inkling what mafia is... right?
because splitting up the player base worked well last time
there was literally nothing wrong with having a competitive lobby

That's great and all, but I've actually been playing unranked and featured games with brand new players, and they've told me that they didn't know serious mafia exists even though that's what they were looking for, because of the way things are laid up.
So I'm going to trust them more than the hypothetical new players you imagine in your head.
I mean as someone who came here to play pretend detective (read: the target demographic of the website), I personally don't mind playing with people who like to hit on each oher online as long as they are decent players
which they usually are unless you're playing unranked
Right now whether or not a game fills isn't based on whether it can get enough people but whether it can get enough people within about 4 minutes.
I mean unless you're one of those scumbags that pings people and remakes games when they get pushed off page 1, so that they are more likely to fill
it helps if the immediate reaction most people have to your online persona is not one of revulsion, btw, but that's not required as long as you don't say anything until the game starts
There are people here to hit on e-girls over a themed chatroom and there are people here to play pretend detective.
The latter might only be slightly less lame than the former, but I still don't see why those two groups are in the same lobby.
I think there's a large overlap between those groups though, and I also think joining gold heart games is a lot funner when they actually fill. I mean I haven't read this thread so maybe you have some epic argument about mafia here that is being mocked because circlejerk or w/e, but I doubt it

It's impressive that you manage to be both condescending and an idiot.
