This website is far past the point where having ranked and unranked games in main lobby makes sense.
Both sandbox and main lobby suffer from this weird choice. Unranked games should go in sandbox, which will boost the ever slowing population of 12 person closed setups, and ranked games should go in main lobby.
Without the influx of unranked games being made, competitive games will not be second paged so fast, and thus fill more often, allowing more than 2 setups to be played each round.

A ranked filter exists and is not used because it is not the default. It helps no one.
Moving unranked games does NOT split the community. That is so ignorant. 95% of ranked players NEVER play unranked and 95% of unranked players NEVER play ranked.
On top of that, this thread was literally spawned by me joining unranked games and talking to the new players.
Do you know what they said, by and large? They were looking for serious games but didn't know they existed because of all the unranked games.
They were about to quit the website, before I explained how to play serious games.

No. If the unranked game requirement was removed, new players would play ranked games as their very first games. Ranked would be the default, and unranked would be a mini game like games lobby.
I'm arguing a ranked filter would do a better job then splitting the community further

Do you know who benefits from ranked and unranked players competing to fill games in the same lobby? No one, absolutely no one benefits. No one at all. Everyone suffers from it, and everyone's games take longer to fill.
What are you arguing for? Tradition for traditions sake?
The downside is there is less exposure for ranked games to new players or even olDer players whow cgoose to play unranked instead. I'd be for deleting sandbox and forcing them into main before pushing more people to go sandbox.

The fact of the matter is that this idea is to the detriment of absolutely no one, and in fact incontrovertibly to the benefit of absolutely everyone.
There is no downside, period. A downside does not exist. Unranked players can play their stupid mafia themed chatrooms faster in the almost entirely dead sandbox lobby, and ranked players will benefit from tables that fill much faster without competing with unranked games.
There literally is no downside. You're arguing that everything stays horrible for everyone, because that's how it has always been.
Yes a 20 vote difference on a site with several hundred active people is immense support especially when you account for the different player base that sandbox and main is, you sure proved something today.

I don't know, I'd say the 33 to 13 vote shows immense support in favor of the idea, and the fact that you think otherwise once again asserts your illiteracy.
The thread is mostly people roasting your idea though, and you thinking you're winning arguments... If there was a filter that you could switch to stay on there would be no need to get rid of unranked games because you aren't getting bumped off the page.

A filter is a welcome addition to removing unranked games. Removing unranked games from main lobby will not outcast anyone. In fact, it will make games fill faster for BOTH the unranked and ranked communities.
This has all been addressed. If you care, please read the thread in its entirety. If you don't care, that's okay, just don't post.
A filter will do everything you want and not outcast anyone.

@Labiamajora
People who enjoy unranked are highly unlikely to move all the way up to competitive games.
Many players, such as myself and a veritable multitude of new players I met playing unranked games have expressed that they were nearly driven away from the website immediately by unranked games.
I, Saiyan, forgive new players unconditionally if they express that they are new, and have for quite some time, whether a trophy is on the line or not.
This has all been addressed numerous times. Please don't post the same rehashed opinions over and over and over. If you care, read the whole entire thread. If you don't care, don't post.
Dude lmao it doesn't matter if the unranked is removed the type of games they'd want to play no one would join. Your are casting out a group of people who could move on to ranked. Sonse you can be a super nasty person when people do something dum so it's super ironic you want new players to jump into ranked when you're the type of person that makes people not want to play because of how you attack people's mistakes.

Dear illiterate moron,
The unranked requirement would be removed entirely. Leave my fking thread.
Sandbox unranked is different then main unranked. Their games will never fill the only thing they play is the 20 person xdddddf random setup

If you had read the thread, you'd understand that this idea includes removing the unranked requirement to play ranked games.
So new players would immediately learn to play ranked classic mafia (not ideal, but superior than starting in unranked games) and sandbox will be an area off to the side for people who have no interest in ranked play.
People who play unranked were going to play unranked anyway.
This is the last time I am reiterating. If you care, read the thread in its entirety. If you don't, be quiet, Germatron.
I haven't read this thread but moving unranked games to sandbox will just hurt the community by sticking the new players somewhere else. The necessity of unranked games in main is that it teaches new players how to play without consequence and also to test different setups/mechanics. Sandbox isn't meant to learn how things work, you can't even read what your role does. It's just for fun and to socialize. Like its been said a ranked filter will solve this problem without dividing the community.
I have lmao, you're talking to me as if I'm Germatron, or that my double pasted joke was my serious opinion.
Have you read the other responses were people have both given reasons about having a consolidation approach, making sure we retain skilful play in games and more?
No one is denying that, but how are you going to foster new players to play comp if they have more interest in playing unranked games, especially if you've told them all to move to a separate lobby?
Let me know of this, where is the influx going to come from? Do you have a competition lined up?
