Madoka is really nice from an art and worldbuilding standpoint. I still have a weird lil novelty kyubey backpack that I love and hate so very much.

Yo tho has anyone seen Naoki Urasawa's Monster? It's bananas. Talk to me about Johan Liebert pls. :'^)

well I don't care at all for "magical girl" anime but I thought madoka magica was really good and very well made.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica? 'Cause yeah. :d

It was fun. I think it might be overrated, but that's just me. Deconstructions are nice and it had a cool plot.

I didn't really care for PMMM as much as most people, probably because I don't watch enough Magical Girl anime to fully appreciate it.

why aren't the people who make the same banal jokes over and over again in this thread blacklisted yet?

i'm actually glad you said this because everyone said it was the best thing in the world and i thought it was like, above average so i'm glad not everyone thinks so highly of it

Boku dake ga Inai Machi (manga) is really well done imo. disappointed it is ongoing. :(

the killer is fairly obvious but i think the mangaka has done that purposely

tldr part 2 of the posts above (which got deleted x2):

basically japan was suffering after ww2 bombing, boys see iceland as the isolated, untouched beauty japan was, japan still culturally devastated by this crisis, as they were previously v isolationist and historically xenophobic etc.

the european myths are like the westernized version of this defeatism, with a blinding guilt that permeates culturally, though very subtly.

Don't worry! I see your previous posts; they didn't get deleted for me. :0

Woah, I definitely never read that far into it. I understood that there was significance regarding the forced freedom the American forces were exacting on Japan, but I never thought about Iceland in that way nor the significance of Hiroshima/Shibazaki in that way. That's awesome--that's such a message wow. Thanks so much for sharing your opinion on that! It does make perfect sense, too. I always sensed that there was at least something deep and political about ZNT, terrorist themes aside, and I think you've hit the nail on the head with that.

Finished TTGL.

Thrill ride to the finish, but im mad. That ending makes me so mad yet i knew it was coming.

One of the better series Ive ever watched. Cant believe i went this long without it, but it was great while it lasted. Kill la Kill next maybe?

cool, just finished it and had the same reaction. all i can say is

Spoiler
yoko should stop freaking kissing people

and

Spoiler
why can't simon just be fucck1ing happy for once everyone either doesn't love him or dies

and while it was p good, i wouldn't call it top tier. i enjoyed kill la kill more personally.

And so is every other female character in the guild.

Well, even most female characters that aren't.

Just sayin'. :D

I did not use gratuitous Japanese at any point, ironically or unironically, FTR

I think I disliked fairy tail because the main characters bored/annoyed me and the art/tone/plot/etc. conspired to make it unappealing to me on a base level. Or something. I could also be demonizing it in my memory since so much time has passed since I dropped it idk

i mean i just thought the first four episodes were slow, i really liked the arc from ep 5-10 but ep 21-28 or w.e that arc is, is when it starts getting really good imo

Code Geass was highly flawed but highly enjoyable. I, like many people, adore the ending. Lelouch was an AWESOME protagonist.

Thats's an accurate summary of my opinion of Code Geass. Highly flawed but it will be easy to look past those flaws because everything else is pretty good. :D

it's one of those long-running shounen anime, sort of, right? Idk but the characters were uninteresting and unlikable (even/at least to my 13 y o self), the plot wasn't particularly unique (IIRC), and the humor just wasn't something that I personally liked. I actually watched more than 9 episodes I think.

My brother liked it, though. That's WHY I watched as long as I did. It's clearly up some people's alleys but I can't imagine it being worth it to me to give it a 27-episode-long chance when there are so many different anime out there.

Then again, it apparently has a positive reception and is praised for those things, so it probably just wasn't my cup of tea. It seemed really childish which could've been the main turn-off, shallow as that reason is.

I'm reading pandora hearts rn because of epicmafia user leo (who is named after an awesome character!) but that probably doesn't go in this thread. I was warned by said user that the anime wasn't so great.
