Hi. Recently, I've felt that our current rules do not fit the current meta and playerbase, and are outdated in many aspects. I've been thinking about rewriting them in full, but I figured that a more open approach would allow for everyone to be more content if such a thing happened. I want to use this thread to talk about discrepancies in the system and how to appropriately fix or address them. I believe that the rules are not accessible enough based on website design alone and how they are handled. This leads to a lot of complaints that could be thinned down if people came together and defined the rules in such a way that can make everyone (mostly) happy. I want to use this thread as a placeholder and for people to be critical as much as they please with aspects of the report system also, and how we as a team could possibly improve it or get lucid to notice that it is in need of an overhaul. It's a very daunting task, but I want to believe that the people who spend their time in the complaints section, constantly riding on mods or problems with the site, finally will put their money with their mouth is.
The goal of this thread is to hopefully allow new and old users thoroughly understand the rules more clearly so the amount of reports diminishes and people have a more enjoyable experience.
it feels weird to see that whenever there's a call to arms (such as this community project) that i'm almost always on the sidelines, or similarly can't actually do any work. i kinda just get to sit here and say things, almost all the time

He's free for the next couple of days so if you've got more than one view of things you should shoot him a mail.

if you actually revamp the system, any current mentor who's willing to try and recommit should be given the chance imo.

honestly there probably wouldn't be enough people good enough to become mentors who would actually be interested in putting the time into redoing the program, i had a few ideas but i think that they're out of the scope of what lucid would code even though he said he would be interested in fixing the program
devante i took ur word for it already. u want me to say "ok now that i've seen that, i still agree with you". is your goal to make me say "kill all mentors"

Mentors who are currently have at least 2 mentees that are not experienced players and don't actually need mentors or are new players who have played a game of mafia in the last month. Or actually still log into mafia themselves (the mentor):
i'll take your word that every mentor is inactive and say yes

regardless of what the mentor program needs, it also needs to have inactives gutted out
so everyone of them?

the mentor program might work better if it took a more casual approach from both sides. instead of having to go through signing up and getting assigned a specific mentor and all, it'd be cool if there was just a place for newer players to ask questions and have mentors answer them or just request that someone look over a few of their games and give them a few tips. You could keep the old system in place for people who are serious about a longer term mentorship and improving and stuff, but casual availability is important for probably the majority of players.
You don't need a full-scale system to have a Q&A - gameplay section.

like i've said many times sometimes people just don't know to ask, if the mentor program was more accessible and the community knew about it more then it's very pleasurable that the program would work with the right team. If you have a team that occasionally goes into FP games and sees if there are any players with potential and they could just talk to them and introduce them to the mentor program i'm sure the program would work. The mentor program only sucks because you guys suck @ doing it

unoffical mentoring is far more effective and efficient than "official epicmafia mentoring"
