Hi. Recently, I've felt that our current rules do not fit the current meta and playerbase, and are outdated in many aspects. I've been thinking about rewriting them in full, but I figured that a more open approach would allow for everyone to be more content if such a thing happened. I want to use this thread to talk about discrepancies in the system and how to appropriately fix or address them. I believe that the rules are not accessible enough based on website design alone and how they are handled. This leads to a lot of complaints that could be thinned down if people came together and defined the rules in such a way that can make everyone (mostly) happy. I want to use this thread as a placeholder and for people to be critical as much as they please with aspects of the report system also, and how we as a team could possibly improve it or get lucid to notice that it is in need of an overhaul. It's a very daunting task, but I want to believe that the people who spend their time in the complaints section, constantly riding on mods or problems with the site, finally will put their money with their mouth is.

The goal of this thread is to hopefully allow new and old users thoroughly understand the rules more clearly so the amount of reports diminishes and people have a more enjoyable experience.

Game Board

No players on the board yet.

It's not about 'snitch points'. It's about having your abuse of the report system recognised. I honestly don't think people could give a crap about gaining the karma, it's more about losing it. Infact, just make it negative karma otherwise people will report more often within the laws of the game.
Wouldn't really work unless the points had some direct correlation with reports (for every 3 karma you can file one extra report a day.)

I dunno how stupid this sounds, but could it be a benefit to create some kind of karma system within reports. ie for every correctly filed report, the player gains karma. For every incorrectly filed report, the player will lose karma. This would encourage people to stop filing petty grudge reports.

Edit: Just for clarification, this would be separate karma to profile karma.
en, positive report points sounds disastrous

how about everyone starts with like 5 report points, and then lose 1 for every wrong one they submit. and then they get 1 every x points or games or whatever

the #1 problem with every player is they literally always blame other ppl for mistakes in a furious rage, and never look at their own gameplay. this is like 90% of people and the mindset is so engrained in the playerbase that most ppl will stay bad

also a 'mentor system' is honestly a really silly idea. i mean keep it since we already have it, but our community with forums should have guides/topics on how to play proper mafia. there aren't many except anthony's and also pranay's, but his are ignored by ppl thinking he's an idiot when he's actually really objectively good at maf

i'm not sure that the mentorship program was even a necessary target of revision as per this thread's focus but this community does exceptionally well at prioritizing

being a good mentor has less to do with being a good mafia player, and more to do w/ being a good teacher
