Politics General

almost 6 years

Since some users dislike the political discussions on the Sandbox lobby wall, I’ve decided to make a serious thread where people can discuss political issues/tangentially-related discourse.

Please keep name-calling to a minimum and remember that site rules still apply. While this “debate” is not technically “moderated,” I reserve the right to mute anyone who decides to make this thread all about Jamal or Neanderthals or whatever.

Please just try to use this space to contain conversations that are otherwise derailing in other places.

Guns don't kill people. People with guns kill people. Therefore, we shouldn't ban guns we should just ban people with guns.

Kaepernick led the 49ers to the superbowl, and any way you want to interpret NFL stats, he was a good QB when the rest of the team wasn't garbage. In his last seasons with the 49ers, he was absolutely demolished by sacks because the offensive line was awful. Right now there are plenty of teams who have worse QBs than Kaepernick, and Kaepernick still has some years left in him. For the Vikings, Redskins, Jaguars, and Broncos, with skilled players at every position but QB, he would be a good fit. And if you want to hear a fun, outlandish scenario, Jon Gruden will trade Derek Carr and sign Kaepernick.

Vader did a ton wrong but the point is that you can come to make the right decisions even if you’ve strayed far from the path of righteousness. It doesn’t excuse what you did but I think what he did opened up the path to forgiveness, why he became a ghost Jedi and why Luke probably forgave him deep down. This is a good lesson to take away.

Colin Kaepernick is NOT a victim. He is an idiot who threw away his football career, and REFUSES TO GO BACK TO THE NFL for anything less than a starting QB for a team, even though he doesn't have what it takes to be given that. If he wanted to stay in the NFL he could've, but instead he decided to throw his NFL career away, don't let Kaepernick fool you.

Abandoning children and killing the mother/wife is not messed up then.

Cutting off your son's arm isn't wrong either.

He did not kill Padme, she died in childbirth a good amount of time later. However he was told he did kill her (Source:
), and as a result had no idea his children were alive. Upon learning of their status of being alive he immediately attempted to “make up for lost time” by having his son join in him in galactic conquest (and later mentions he has plans to do the same with his daughter).

His son was lashing out with a dangerous weapon and he simply disarmed (lol) him. An appropriate act of dealing with a child tantrum. A little tough love. Prosthetics have gone a long way in their galaxy so it wasn’t really a big deal in the long scheme of things (see plans of galactic conquest). He was able to get a new arm with full feeling even on the tight shoestring budget of the rebel alliance. Had he joined Vader he probably would have gotten a ba new arm that connects to the holonet, can play music and has bluetooth capability. Vader himself is mostly prosthetics and they do little to hinder him in his day to day routine. They may have even had something new to bond over

I never watched it, and that was the stuff that I heard

Well done AlienK, well done. That is a very common and accessible interpretation of the prophecy, after all a balance implies that both dark and light must be equal. HOWEVER the dark side of the force is a perversion of the force, not a naturally occuring element of it. The balance of the force does not mean that both light and dark are equal, but rather that the force returns to its true nature.
It is clear by the end of the Return of the Jedi that Luke is in fact the chosen one. He brings balance to the force by finally eliminating the literal force cancer that is Sheev “Darth Sidious” Palpatine and his apprentice. This has been confirmed by the intelligent creative genius that is George Lucas.

There are also claims that Darth Vader did nothing wrong and once I have more time I will be more then glad to discuss why Darth Vader has indeed done something wrong.
