New Roles

Hello everyone! I would like to ask the people who are interested in this event to participate and contribute as much as possible.

In order for 2 new roles to be added to em, the community has to work together to refine the ideas that are going to be mentioned below. We have to collectively select 2 of the best ideas and make sure their version is the best one possible. The next step would be to come up with some sort of artwork for the selected roles. Lucid mentioned something about rewarding the users behind the artwork that would get selected in the end for those 2 roles.

Jack the Ripper (originally Hypocrite)

Jack the Ripper hates anyone who kills.
Jack the Ripper only wins when the game ends and all murderers are dead.
If Jack the Ripper receives a gun or knife and kills someone with it, he will not consider himself a murderer.
To Jack the Ripper, murderers are killing roles or any other player that has successfully eliminated someone else (shot, stabbed, blown up, etc.)
If a player survives one of these actions, Jack the Ripper will not consider the attacker a murderer. (~Jennings)

Cat Lady

Chooses one player every night. The player is instantly alerted that a cat is at their door. They have two options: Kill the cat, and let it go. If you kill the cat, you are roleblocked and the Cat Lady doesn't know who was visited. If you let it go, the Cat Lady learns your role.
Sided with the mafia. (~Her)

Robinhood

Visits two people, taking all items from the first and giving them to the second (cannot visit self either way)
Action fails if trying to steal from a mafia
Sided with the village (~Torreador)

Vice President

If the president dies, takes their place
All townies immediately receive a message of their new president
Attends mafia meetings, and makes them anonymous
Cannot win if they are the vice president (~Alyssa)

Gossiper

Chooses one person every night.
Will see some whispers this person receives/makes.
Gossiper's action does not count as a visit.
Sided with the mafia. (~Soluciones)

(revising) the Seer

Knows all mafia from the beginning of the game.
If lynched at the end of the game, the last mafia can guess who the Seer is for autowin.
If the Seer dies, they will appear as a random (non-mafia) role in the setup and their will will always be blank. If dead, the mafia can still attempt a guess to the Seer's identity at the end of the game.
If there are multiple Seers in a game, only one Seer will know the mafia at any given time.
If there are two mafias and multiple Seers, the knowledge of the mafias will be split between them.

Whistleblower

Once per game can force someone to vote someone else. Vote cannot be OT'D if it is a hammer. Sided with maf (Will create more tension in selfing/hammering based setups (~Moldyches)

Soldier

If they are the last man standing against a single mafia or third party, the village wins.

PowerTown

Each night chooses a power role from the options provided to him. (the mods should determine the list)
Night meeting goes accordingly

when discussing this, i figured that this would be a great opportunity to organized the Learn tab a little bit more. I suggested a while ago that there should be filters to sort roles by traits, such as killing, investigative, hostile v nonhostile 3rds etc. I think by tagging roles with these traits would be a good start and then the "ripper" role would be based off those definitions.

TL;DR:

- buff Cat Lady;
- make Cat Lady taking actions at the end of the day instead of the night when they can make the target veg;
- make day start setups where only actions for the following night are performed;
- make Jack the Ripper win if murderers are dead regardless of their role (e.g. can win with NK'ing vigil);
- replace name of Jack the Ripper to Pacifist;

Jack the Ripper getting rid of killing roles? Hmm.... what are those killing roles? Vig, mafs attending meeting, some of hostile 3rd-party roles are directly killing. What about trapper, bomb, sheriff? They can also kill when triggered some actions. EM used to never adjust strict mechanics about some role categories such as investigatives or killers. You can replace comp sheriffs with this role, which is more powerful and only wins with town. I think getting rid of people who just kill is enough so no one at the start is assumed as killing. People will eventually kill as it's the main concept of the game. And Jack the Ripper is not a good name, Pacifist is a decent one.

Vice President - nah. People will just lynch the main President to help Vice President if they know this role exists in the setup they're playing.

Seer, PT and PM need a new game mode tbh, such as president setups. They're completely different from the normal Main mafia games.

More expanded feedback from me:

Cat Lady is like a less powerful stalker. She gets a report only if the target wants, but most of people would prefer to be roleblocked instead unless they're pr who are going to out the next day. Killing or letting the cat go is a bit harsh, especially that the Cat Lady has to send the cat again. You can give the options respectively: spend the whole night to take care of the cat without revealing the role to Cat Lady or ignore the cat which would follow the target and learn his role. If you want this more powerful, it could describe the target's visit and/or reports/items (eventually pick one of those at night, chosen by the Cat Lady).

Also, the problem with blitzing the night, as Torreador says. Cat Lady can send the cat at the end of the night making the target veg. This has to be fixed. I think she has to pick the target at the end of the day, such as governor meeting, jailer, etc. But this way it would provide no N1 actions for such a role. I have also an idea to make day start setups where people don't take an action during the day, only at the end. It'd be useful in popular comp day start setups, where a leading pr claims to receive a gun/vest/report.

Ok Whistleblower vote should only work when another mafia partner is alive or when town outnumbers mafia by 2. So like in a solo 5 way, or 2 maf 7 town. Basically not allowing mafia to force a nl in lylo or mylo

An alert should also go off like "the whistle has been blown" but not signal who it goes off on

secretary, while no one uses, would create a situation where a doctor needs to choose between protecting a PR for reports or protecting the secretary so the town can keep lynching.

Widow punishes the town for killing the mafia, what they're supposed to do creating a huge swing turn for mafia without doing anything explicitly wrong.

So how can this role work? First idea is that it could be a non meeting mafia. The main mafia will still know who they are and can try to lead a lynch on them, but if there is more than one non-meeting mafia they risk lynching the wrong one or outing themselves via whispers.

Second idea is have her only affect lynching if she dies from OTHER means. It would mean that lynching her is the safe option and that Vig and gun-havers would have to be much more careful about shooting the target of a cop report.
