The disclaimer is in case I get anything incorrect, since I'm still learning. I don't think one could actually sufficiently learn a language just with Google translate due to some major issues which Tom Scott goes over in this video
But when it comes to singular words, Google usually is pretty good at it, so I do use it for that from time to time, so I get some interesting words and my thread doesn't turn into this:
But on cursing, I've found Norwegian a bit lacking in "fun swear words." The go to seems to be "fahn," or, the +1 to that "fy fahn." It's not incredibly uncommon to see Norwegian people switching to English to curse.
But, as far as learning a language goes, there are actually many useful resources online. Duolingo can be pretty good for grammar. I really, really like how Memrise does things though; I take one course on there for vocabulary, and another called Norwegian on Web, developed at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
