Hey everyone, so it appears that I'm owner again. I'd like to preface this by saying that it's not with any malice or whatever that I'm coming back to this with, Merlot doesn't have time to own the lobby anymore (she's quite busy with work) and as such has been having difficulty picking a successor. Because of this, I'm here in this interim period to look after the lobby whilst we come to an agreement on who's gonna helm the ship from hereon out. I'm not entirely sure how long this period will last, it could be anywhere from a couple of weeks to over a month, but to the people who dislike me please rest assured that this is not permanent.
In the meantime, I'll be looking to streamline some of Sandbox's aspects and make a few quality of life tweaks for both the moderators and the regular users. If people have any recommendations of how to further improve Sandbox or who would make for a good successor, please don't hesitate to send me a private message.

riding someones shlong just throwing compliments and positivity on an online forum will not change their outlook on life and spewing the same that is found everywhere won't make a difference.
If the person isnt willing to change and improve their own life, they aren't ready yet and that is perfectly fine as not everyones the same and need to find something that actually motivates them.
Just don't kill yourselves and everything will be okay i guess lol
On some extent you're lying to yourself but at that point you have to ask: what's wrong with that? not to get philosophical here but you're sitting in your room, you're out there pursuing something in your life that you're good at, using your example either way there is starving children across the sea. Don't be oblivious to the world around you, of course, but if you're having an awful life and nothing's worth it to you then what's the matter of lying a bit to actually find something that IS worth it to you?

i dont think happiness is a form of self deception and my brain is pretty dead right now so i dont think ill be able to properly articulate why i disagree/think the way i do
you can be happy while also existing in a world that has unhappiness existing, i think u justneed to do a bit of soul searching as to why ur unhappy and what version of u would u be happy with and then work towards a feasible goal to achieve that

a thought i've been having for a while now is that happiness is merely a form of self deception. tricking yourself into being happy and actually being happy are one and the same. you simply cannot look at the breadth of the suffering, pain, unfairness and injustice that happens in the world and come to the conclusion that everything is okay without some veil of deception covering you. so you rely on drugs and forced positive thinking to brainwash yourself, and that's not a bad thing. maybe. who knows
but you're both right, absolutely. if i had real friends and did fun stuff and enjoyed my time in the here and the now it's highly unlikely i'd suddenly think to myself "holy f*ck people are starving in africa" all this free time has only made me bogged down in negative thought, and while it may be objective, it's not conducive to a happy and productive life. depression, the disease of the man with too much free time . haha lol
