Power hungry

deletedabout 8 years

Hello my dearest loving epic mafia community.

Recently I've come to the alarming realization that one of our very own sandbox mods have become a site moderator as well. Do we really have to give them that much power? To moderate sandbox they only need to be a sandbox mod or a site mod, not both.

This may just be me but I sense more power being handed out to those who already have power.

I do not wish for any mod other than fnoof to give explanation on this one, on why we should hand them more power.

when someone is proven to break rules and mod abuse, who would come to the decision that this is our best option to give them eyes on the entire site?

i have a question

does it matter? the majority of you don't even put a feet outside sandbox, so why do you care about whos handling main lobby crap.

error is there because edark wanted him there, thats all there is to this

edark was admin and main lobby owner

It's standard practice for one of the admins to be main lobby owner. Just nitpicking, though.

to continue replying to your post, it's what he signed up for. He is the one who begrudgingly applied to become sandbox moderator a few months ago.

Keeping him in both states of power just creates more publicity, more want to maintain both positions. I say sever one of the two heads before they start to depend on each other to exist.

Sandbox moderating is banning people for slurs and d*ck pics and if someone's going to be site mod is there really a need to continue to be a mod in sandobx?

Sandbox mods don't do much as is (as seen here https://epicmafia.com/topic/78356). He'd still have his power if demodded from Sandbox. It'd just be a slight inconvenience to access it unless he got his main account site modded instead.

I don't think there is an issue with Bebop being site mod and lobby owner(edark was admin and main lobby owner and in all honesty I don't think it would make sense for an owner of a large lobby like sandbox to not be a site mod), however with Error it is anything but needed. Sandbox hardly even wants him as a mod and now main lobby is stuck with him too. Referencing to Golbolco's "Error" thread, it is evident that many people disagree with his mod-ship. I understand Bebop pushes that he is a good mod cause he sits in chatbox stopping baddies from saying naughty words but when someone is proven to break rules and mod abuse, who would come to the decision that this is our best option to give them eyes on the entire site?

Furthermore, #sandreturn.
Take away sandbox mod's ability to skip making/receiving a report by posting in mod actions thread. Bebop undoes things that the mods do in there anyways and it just makes the team look disorganized.

i'd argue error is smart and capable enough that just limiting him to banning people for slurs and d*ck pics in sandbox is not really maximising his potential and as a site mod he is able to do more good for the site overall

although another point entirely is that the mod team should be focusing on modding people with more experience since the recent competitive round decisions have been appalling

there's no need for a new sandbox mod just because error is now also a site mod

We don't need a new mod

but we don't need to give someone power on two separate accounts.

It's just giving them more publicity and more power, a bit power hungry if you ask me.

like yeah i guess he could be removed from the sandbox mod position but he'd still mod stuff in here

this is a troll thread right?

by this reasoning bebop doesnt have to be a site mod and a lobby owner
