Why is it that users can file a report up to seven days after the offense has taken place?
It doesn't make sense to me that the time period is that long. It should be reduced to 48 hours at the most.
The only thing that seven days allows someone is the chance to dig into the game records and see if they can get them banned.
Shorter reporting periods will allow users enough time to report offenses but also help to reduce report spam when people find each and every violation a person has committed in the last week.
The reason, though, that we can't just say "Only people in this game can report for violations" is because if there was a game full of friends, they can't break rules and get away with it.
By reducing the time to 48 hours or less, it leaves just enough time to report the violations and also keep out the report trolls who just want to try to get people banned and overuse the system.
Should it change to what OP is saying?

for red heart games if u play a 4-5 player game then it won't be hard for most ppl

just bc the hof win% is already full of pointfarmers/cheaters that doesnt take away the point i made.
cuz otherwise cheating for main lobby trophies wouldn't matter either since farmed trophies contribute to All Time Most Decorated
but 1 more thing. if u play with friends and your friends are always grs'ing for you. that's gonna give u an unfair illegitimate high win rate, and possibly put u on the hof win% unfairly.
i dont see how thats fair
Even I can't fill a ranked game with only my friends.

HoF is another issue that doesn't seem like lucid will ever fix it

Ultimately, it's like this.
The people who are present on the table are essentially trading their time for enjoyment. Reports occur when they feel like they are not getting a fair trade, and that somebody in particular has caused them to feel as such.
In this respect, if somebody at the table commits a GRS and nobody reports it, why should somebody external of the situation feel that it is within their power to determine whether or not the offence was worthy of a violation? Yes, they might have broken a rule, and yes rules should be enforced, but ultimately this is a mafia website and people come here to have fun. If people are still able to have fun, and no one is offended or upset, or feel like their time has been disregarded, then sometimes it's best to just let bygones-be-bygones and get on with your day.
is this confirmed, is this what it's like from now on

I was going to make a thread about people who report other people's games even though they weren't in the game themselves. Personally, I think it's petty and spiteful, and I am definitely looking to discourage that type of behaviour. I advocate for less strict policing, and less spiteful behaviour in general.
I think reducing it to a 24-48 hour limit is actually a good option to resolve those kinds of issues. I'll have a think on it.
this is just gonna encourage ppl to play with their friends and gamethrow for each other.

your hypothetical example was bad and wrong.

I said that was a hypothetical example. I am talking bigger picture.

you're just being arrogant now "everything i am saying is fact" lmao.
hardly anyone reports someone for lightly trolling in a game they werent. for hateful comments yh, but for trolling nah
deletedover 8 years
I am not going to continue arguing with you, and you should know very well that everything I am saying is fact regardless if I have hard proof of it.
Everyone sees report scrounging, and a lot of people here used to be report scroungers too.
deletedover 8 years
the example report was grs and it was textbook grs.
you're talking about lightly trolling and someone who wasn't in the game reporting it. that is completely different and no ppl don't always go round reporting that and you have shown 0 evidence of this whilst i have shown evidence opposing this even if it is a 7 month old report

plz show me a report where someone who wasnt in the game got another user a trolling vio for something u think was "lightly trolling"
it was an example. The real report that gave an example is the first post.
I am not going to go digging in reports for more example of report scrounging, but everyone knows they happen all the time
Sometimes I'm busy and it actually takes me a long time to remember to think about whether or not I want to appeal a report or something like that. I appealed for a refund 6 days after the original report was closed and got the refund. I had to spend some time thinking about it too. I don't think it's bad, if the deadline is shorter, people would just do what you're saying they'd do in the OP..... faster.
I don't necessarily think the differentiated deadline should apply to appeals.

It doesn't matter if you're abc I am just wondering if you are, because you're talking/doing things just like he would
And no, a 7 month old precedent of something this trivial basically means nothing

consistency is important

a 7 month old example is still precedent. constantly breaking precedents is what destroys this site.
don't try to invalidate the points i make by calling me abc lmao
