Why is it that users can file a report up to seven days after the offense has taken place?
It doesn't make sense to me that the time period is that long. It should be reduced to 48 hours at the most.
The only thing that seven days allows someone is the chance to dig into the game records and see if they can get them banned.
Shorter reporting periods will allow users enough time to report offenses but also help to reduce report spam when people find each and every violation a person has committed in the last week.
The reason, though, that we can't just say "Only people in this game can report for violations" is because if there was a game full of friends, they can't break rules and get away with it.
By reducing the time to 48 hours or less, it leaves just enough time to report the violations and also keep out the report trolls who just want to try to get people banned and overuse the system.
2 days is not long enough rutab; why do you believe 7 days is too long of a period?
because somebody went through games and found it 5 days after the fact?
the reason why 2 days isn't enough is because of what you explained in your OP:
"The reason, though, that we can't just say "Only people in this game can report for violations" is because if there was a game full of friends, they can't break rules and get away with it."
it's pretty lame to be get reported by somebody not in your game, but i don't see why we should make it harder for a user to get violations if they are violating rules.
i think there are going to be a few cases where people actually learn something is reportable later after the game is done, but in most cases, if you're getting reported, its going to be right away
anyways, what im saying is that you understand that people are going to get away with breaking the rules in "friend only" games, so why then do you want to limit the time they can be caught doing this? your stance is kind of being on the middle ground of being able to be reported by people out of game, but not realistically giving it enough time to be caught by other users anyways. 7 days is a good enough time

Yeah I got a cheating and game throwing vio two months after it all happened I want #justice
we're playing under an administration who doesn't believe in punishing people for breaking rules
so this is the perfect suggestion for them

even without the cheating point that xxerox made, it's still dumb
if people break rules they should be punished so 7 days is fine. who cares if some people report others to get them banned, if the person they reported actually broke a rule then they totally deserve the vio.
what if i wanna get someone banned and i report them for cheating and they actually did cheat. should they not be punished just cuz i want them banned? lmao dumb thread
1 Person has 6 cheating accounts and is testing how to cheat properly.

roadman b& me for an offense 3 weeks after the fact, 1 week after he had given me a vio for the exact same thing but hadn't noticed that specific instance. and abc had filed the report. and another mod had already closed the report. and he sustained the appeal i made on the verdict.
7 days because someone cheated and someone finds it out 49 hours later and cant report him for cheating because it has been 49 hours after his offence.
Rutab, you are an idiot.
The more time to look through past games and report someone who clearly is gamethrowing, the better.

I agree with the time shortening good call, but why cant a group of friends break rules?
7 friends should be allowed to HC the f*ck out of eachother.
they are. u know those weird passworded games that fill with weird af setups that have all very new, 0 point accounts which are either noavis or have anime pictures?
what do u think happens in those games, friend?

In cases of cheating it should have a week but besides that yeah I agree, it seems kinda sketchy to report someone 7 days after the offense is made
