Listen, users of Sandbox. I think we can all agree that the late developments concerning the ownership of Sandbox have been very, well, stupid. The owner keeps changing every few days. People get banned. People get unbanned.
This isn’t working. Nobody has any idea about what’s going on. Aside of Lucid. Lucid’s laughing in the driver’s seat of his uber, eating away a McDonald’s Chili Chicken as he laughs at us. He laughs at Kenny, Golbolco, Platypops, Sishen, gardenfulloflies, hima.
And why? Because we need to get a grip. Sandbox needs a leader – ONE leader, a leader to stay. With a selection of mods, elected by Sandbox, and approved by the leader. We need to work together to form a strong sandbox, one sandbox, and not just a few groups of trolls and circlejerkers who may or may not actually play the mafia game. Sandbox has the potential to be a lobby full of fun, really.
Like this, however, that’s impossible. Most if not all of the leaders we’ve gotten are all inept or biased in some way. Every owner came with their respective “circlejerk”, so to say. Some of the owners have been just fine, honestly. Others modded Sishen. But that’s a subject for another day.
The Sandbox Owner should be a person without circlejerk. The Sandbox Owner should be someone who truly acts on what is righteous, and treats everyone the same. Who gives everyone the same chances, as long as they follow the rules. For example, garden’s original plan of asking for moderator applications, then putting those as moderators in rotation, and when everything is done, select the suitable moderators for the lobby. Some claim that we do not need moderators – but what’s the negative to having more damage control? In the case of mod abuse, said mod should be instantly modded and banned, no exceptions, and the abuse should be reverted. This doesn’t sound weird, right? This should be self-explanatory. There is absolutely no negative in modding the proper users.
And what about the owner? I think the owner is fine right now – gardenfulloflies is a good Sandbox Owner. So were Kenny, Platypops, and Golbolco, sure. But things happened, and now gardenfulloflies is owner of the Sandbox Lobby. Too bad that even now, people still complain about cases of bias, or unjustified bans.
In the case of another new owner, it might be better to start off with a clean sheet. Someone who hasn’t been owner, perhaps not even moderator, of the Sandbox Lobby before.
I, ChaoticDoom, would like to assume the position, if necessary. Please; I am not trying to dethrone gardenfulloflies. This is a declaration, focused on the essentials of the ownership of the Sandbox Lobby. And gardenfulloflies is a good owner. But people are mad, people are complaining. The Sandbox Owner has changed three times only recently. And if this happens for a fourth time, I want to have made myself known.
I would not be a biased owner. I am not part of any “circlejerk” in the lobby. Everyone would be treated equally under my ownership. Rules are rules, no exceptions for “best buddies”. I have been a moderator at several forums in the past; I know how to properly moderate. I am very active on the website, and a fairly well-known user. Next to that, I would take applications, and install the moderators that I deem suitable. The users of the Sandbox Lobby could elect moderators, and I would listen; for a moderator is for the people, and not for the owner. As is the owner; the owner should not be decided by Lucid in the spur of the moment, but by the Sandbox Lobby as community.
If the people find my vision of Sandbox to truly be the worst thing that ever happened to the site, I would stand down as owner. I am not trying to move myself into a power position because I crave power. I am not trying to take Sandbox as my own, to everything up. I simply wish for sandbox to be a place where we can all have fun.
This has been my plea. I expect most of you will ignore this, or ask for a “TL;DR”. But I want to make this clear; Sandbox is in need of a good owner, who only bans when justified. I believe gardenfulloflies is this owner; but if Sandbox disagrees, know that I have what it takes. Thank you for reading all of this. To a great Sandbox, Chaotic out!
