Devante, stop here. I really don't care what political trash you want to spew in light of these events, whether you support firearms or not. If you support stricter gun laws, then the argument can be made that the terrorists don't really care what your petty laws say. If you support less strict gun laws, then the argument could be made that the terrorists would use (deadlier) bombs instead to avoid citizens carrying guns. You. Are. Running. Around. In. Circles.
Bottom line, the fact that you're too immature to recognize that you're demonstrating an extreme amount of disrespect toward the victims involved and their families by using this as a platform to project your irrelevant political views is terrible and not how a moderator, a role model, should act. Yes, I understand, but I'm not sure what your point is? As I said, there are some CO's who are helpful, but in our liaison's experience over the past 28 years, our organization's experience over the past 7 years, and in my individual experience over the past 3 years, those are the exceptions, not the norm.

I've tutored in prisons for the past 3+ years, and while there definitely are a couple COs who are consistently diligent and helpful, the overwhelming majority are very unnecessarily harsh to the inmates, in front of us to the inmates themselves, and when talking to us about the inmates. They've even gone so far as to tell us on multiple occasions that they don't understand why we tutor our students, as they're too "awful to help" and "don't deserve it." They take students off our list for no reason, won't tell us why, they don't call our students from their rooms because they don't think they deserve education, they yell at them for looking out the window of our classroom, I could go on and on...
It's an unfortunate reality, but that isn't to say that CO's behavior towards inmates is uniquely bad-- the American public's perception of prisoners is largely similar to that of the CO's. Attitudes at large need to be reshaped, in tandem with a host of prison system reforms.
