If the media didn't emphasize these shootings as much by constantly reporting at the national level every mass shooting that occurs and even going so far as to "rank" past shootings, then those who would be driven to commit such an act would no longer see mass murder as a feasible way to send their message. But hey, shootings make for great news and apparently many journalists don't care about the well-being of society.

American mass shootings are broadcast across the world, to Canada and the UK. There have been a total of 0 copycat shooters in the country of Canada.

It could just be a coincidence that automatic and other guns that have been used in notorious mass shootings are outlawed.
