new rule is bad

almost 9 years

https://epicmafia.com/game/4650359/review here is an example of mafia abusing the new rule to kill a clear, they were not in autolose.

Tucker says

Any action-stopping roles such as nurse, doctor and BS will fall under the rule.

The only excuse for BS is if they vest prior to scum's second hit on the vested person. They'll still have two nights to kill.

This also applies for drunk, but exclusively on meteor nights, and only if it's solo mafia. You can drunk freely up until then.

there's a case for BS legally vesting on the meteor night fwiw

This is amazingly stupid. What a bad website.

It is equally both parties fault so either they would both get a violation or neither would get a violation

players are not allowed to save at all.

> you want someone to die, so why would you save? if the save leads to a loss, you are supposed to not save at all.

you want someone to die who isn't clear so that you can lynch mafia with better odds. don't be dense; town is clearly not NLing just so a clear can die

The fact that this causes so much chaos given how infrequently it happens means the whole meteor mechanism needs to be reworked.

Also this was was discussed here. https://epicmafia.com/topic/63356?page=1

But hey, anything to make this game easier for the mafia, who already have an unfair advantage.

Wait a minute, is there now a rule dictating which players protective roles are allowed to save in a certain situation?

Hahahahahahahahaha.

is it gamethrowing to use a key on meteor night or to stump yourself as tree?

You're not going to reverse what we all had a long discussion on tbh.

28 signed, including at least 7 ex mods

Signing a petition doesn't necessarily change anything because we all discussed this at length once.

If you make a "controversial" decision prepare to hear some backlash. Yes it might be annoying to hear it come from the same people or see different threads on it but that's how it works. People will voice their concern if they want something changed (and btw people will always fight change). It's a very poor response to say "we discussed this we are not changing it"; there were mod teams before that changed the ruleset, no?

Damn.

Is that because most, if not all of them, have heads with hair?

I want moderator heads to roll at my feet, not join them.

Nice big paragraph blog-ish post ScubaSteve, do you want to be a moderator?

I don't ever recall the 'meteor' occurring in any game, primarily because people had the integrity to not make the game go further than D10-12.

there was definitely a time where it would randomly go "no one wins! this game was ranked." after a bunch of nothing happening. i tested it with friends once

maybe it wasn't random but i don't know what the formula was for it

I guess the main takeaway is that you had to go out of your way to test it because no one actually let it get to that point. Either way, given the current playerbase and its tendency to abuse the meteor, lucid should get rid of it completely.

iirc people just guilt tripped mafia into giving up mst of the time
deletedalmost 9 years
You happen to remember the length? I've seen D28s happen.

Maybe there was some form of RNG involved, but I've never heard of it.

I still like my idea where a random person dies if they keep nlling. It keeps everyone guessing

i'm pretty sure somewhere in this thread that i'm not gonna reread giga said the meteor would randomly hit if the game went on for too long, which is why it was changed to the way it is now

ScubaSteve says

This rule wouldn't be a thing if the completely flawed concept of the meteor didn't exist in the first place, and I agree with Giga that it should be removed entirely.

and what happens if neither side decides to lynch or kill?

Then both sides get punished with a never-ending game for being complete idiots.
deletedalmost 9 years
That was never an issue before Devante.

Though it might be one now, if only because the age of the average EpicMafia user has gone down with ~3 years and the game is vastly different. Either way I'd rather deal with that when it gets there.
