tumblr is a way better site and community than this one. i mean, say what you want about it, but this place is almost invariably worse w/r/t discussing anything.
it doesn't matter whether people think the child was 'really transgender' or not. it's not your freaking place to judge. true, children don't know what they're talking about half the time. but if this kid wants to identify as a boy, let him. he's not hurting anybody by doing so. at that age it's very important for kids to express themselves and discover who they are. would it really have been THAT hard to call the child by his preferred pronouns? really??? especially after the parents asked her to. teachers are supposed to be supportive of children, and nourish them to help them establish their personality. playing pretend is a large part of that. teachers understand this, and encourage children to use their imagination. if this teacher wanted to inspire creativity by allowing children to be themselves, then why would she refuse to address the child as his preferred pronouns because she thought he wasn't 'really transgender'? to me this indicates that this person is unfit to be a teacher due to their discriminatory actions, and i agree with the decision to fire her.

(What people don't want to admit is that there is a working, stable and completely hetero-normative world outside their room and tumblr, and this somehow makes people v angry when you talk about it)
you don't know how many people on tumblr would rip you apart from that
i was just saying the two are different, this isnt my soapbox to complain about otherkin or defend them. this is a transgender issue, and felons had no reason to bring that up as a comparison.
you don't have to say it to be transphobic. if you're going to be this ignorant, i suggest you remove yourself from the pleasures of anonymity online and consult a professional.
