A former Texas educator filed a federal discrimination complaint against a learning center in Katy, Texas, after being fired for refusing to address a 6-year-old girl as a transgender boy.The boys parents were a same sex couple
Thoughts? o.O
Was the teacher justified in calling the student a girl
it doesn't matter whether people think the child was 'really transgender' or not. it's not your freaking place to judge. true, children don't know what they're talking about half the time. but if this kid wants to identify as a boy, let him. he's not hurting anybody by doing so. at that age it's very important for kids to express themselves and discover who they are. would it really have been THAT hard to call the child by his preferred pronouns? really??? especially after the parents asked her to. teachers are supposed to be supportive of children, and nourish them to help them establish their personality. playing pretend is a large part of that. teachers understand this, and encourage children to use their imagination. if this teacher wanted to inspire creativity by allowing children to be themselves, then why would she refuse to address the child as his preferred pronouns because she thought he wasn't 'really transgender'? to me this indicates that this person is unfit to be a teacher due to their discriminatory actions, and i agree with the decision to fire her.
Yes, from now on let's just put "Other" on childrens birth certificates until they're 6 years old and can tell us what gender they picked out of the hat and want to be referred as.
nah, this isn't a society THAT well-developed yet. :)

I think it would do well to remember that biological sex and gender are not the same thing.
You social justice freaks get more persistent with each passing day. I am just fearful for the upcoming generations which will be fed different hormones, based on their desired gender identification preferences, only to find that they were completely wrong. Keep pushing your awareness, idiots.

"Hi Sally, just thought I'd let you know that Claire and I have decided on a name. We're going to name her Charlotte Andorra. She is a beautiful girl, weighing just short of a small cobblestone, and we'd love for you to meet her!"
"Hi Peter, that's great news that your baby arrived safely. Please try to refrain from naming them just yet, as we've no clue as to how they might identify themselves."

tumblr is a way better site and community than this one. i mean, say what you want about it, but this place is almost invariably worse w/r/t discussing anything.
Uh your opinions don't line with mine so let me get on anon and tell you end your life and harass you because it's #2015
i haven't experienced that nor have i seen it that much. when it does, it's often teenagers talking to other teenagers. it happens a lot more on this site.

Spy on Your Neighbor, They May be a Straight White Male
Also, since the child was identifiying as a girl should the child be allowed into the girls bathroom, the 6 year old child that can identify as said gender. Would you as a parent be okay with that?
