Okay so, I officially committed to a college today. I'll be going there in the fall. A majority of my knowledge about college comes from stuff that I've seen in TV shows, movies and have heard from random people. For those of you who are actually enrolled in a university right now, how is it like and what should I expect?
While I'm sure your excursion into the more promiscuous side of college was quite enlightening and fun, I would not advise skipping classes unless absolutely necessary.
Remember that the workload will fluctuate depending on a variety of factors: from your major, to the college itself, and to your own personal commitment to go above and beyond, or somewhat below the expectations. It's been said often, but it seriously doesn't hurt to get ahead.
(GrossDude, this doesn't mean I think you went about college the wrong way, because half the purpose of being there should be about enjoying yourself... by the sound of it, you did!)
Life is tough, college the toughest part of your life. Lashka is right about his Jump Street remark. You have two possibilities: you're either the predator or the prey. If you want to be the predator you just need to drive a sport car when you first get there and punch a defenseless kid right in the face so you gain everyone's respect. It's not that tough.
my anthropology literally said that as long as we go to the lectures and pay attention we will get at least a C and my theater teacher told us the exam is based on the lectures. motivation to go to class.
>attending less than half the classes missing 1 week is an automatic drop at my uni

I had one professor give me a B last year even though I got an A in the class. She deducted a letter grade arbitrarily for attending less than half of the classes even though I aced every test and paper. So watch out for aholes like that too
yeah tbh my classes SEEM like they will be easy so it can be incredibly tempting to skip, but i feel like that will end up being my downfall so i'm being academically responsible!!!
my first semester professors are mainly all super nice and chilled out though, which is awesome

You say that now, but, you won't. When you're still drinking at 4 AM you're not going to mind missing that lecture about Frank Lloyd Wright or whatever
good points! on tuesdays and thursdays i have one 8:am class and then I am done for the rest of the day, so I have been using that time to get any homework done and be free for the evening. I might have to dedicate more time later on, though
also remember every friend you make freshman year really just wants to use you when they fall behind and need someone else to read that book they were going to read but they just couldn't miss a marathon of game of thrones on the week of the final
Really the biggest problem with academics is having it all pile up mid-semester (freshman year: you spend too much time socializing/making friends, academics is put on the back-burner). Make sure you allow a few hours (depending on workload) a day/week to get work done, ya dig???
It's really easy to get overwhelmed and distracted with the social side of things. Have fun, enjoy it, but choose to focus on getting through your classes doing your best.
