Dearest Kino

deletedabout 10 years

Since my 'rehabilitation' I have done my best to avoid causing or being a part of any major drama on this site, and I have done it quite well. So when I discovered that you'd been account sharing with Eris as a mod, and let him do hundreds of reports just so you could use ErisCache and ErisSearch to search for people talking about you in games, and Eris was busily forum suspending moderators, I merely let Vancy know that it's possible to still log into an account after the password is changed, via cookie sessions, and agreed not to post this on the forums or cause any drama.

When you were remodded, and playing with Eris in Sandbox & PM'ing him on his evasion accounts, I also ignored this, because it was none of my business, I had told Vancy my concerns, I had warned you to stop, and it was none of my business. Two instantly demoddable offences that you got away with.

However, when you lied to Josh and told him that I'd outed his alts (which, due to the fact I didn't have ErisCache back then, I didn't even know - perhaps you should try a more plausible cover story next time), it became my business. I dislike it when people lie about me, strangely. And when your arguing with Eris led to him causing these mass refunds that have caused me to waste a week of my life running for a trophy that's now gone down the drain, that annoyed me even more.

If you're going to manipulate intelligent people, be aware of the consequences. I never knew Josh's alts, therefore I couldn't have told Vancy or anyone other mod what they were. Don't use me an excuse for things you've done and bring down someone's anger on me when I've done nothing but favours for you by not outing this before.

Oh, and as I did warn you before, I suppose it's natural to say "I told you so".

Frankly I would like to be banned for still caring about the site in the way that I do.

It does become a problem when they stay as mods when standards are lowered because they are your friends, though, Dan.

That's true, although I admittedly don't know much about what goes on in regards to that.

Apart from when you make up new roles for certain mods when they aren't active enoiugh to do the minimum quota.

And when you tell the next admin to go easy on people doing reports when he tries to tell them to up their work or get demodded.

because modding shouldn't be so cutthroat. I agree it should be taken seriously, but it should also be enjoyable.

I'm gonna make a serious post about the current state of the mod team that I've kind of had to hold my tongue about either because I was a mod or I simply wasn't agitated enough to talk about it. There really is a current mindset in the team that is essentially bringing them down which is just noticeable from the mod chat, and while I wouldn't want to credit justrec and his conspiracy theory on everyone being 'corrupt circlejerkers' there's a mentality where mods treat themselves above the community to a point where threads like these either are ignored or turn into in-jokes in the mod chat that I've seen from time to time. I think Mods should be respected but there has to be a balance between respecting someone for being a mod but also deserving it. A main problem with the team as of right now is that there isn't really any driving force to it, and you have a lot of mods who are basically report machines and nothing more. I've always held the opinion that for the most part the forums serve a niche, but usually these matters only develop on the forums because it's filled with filthy caremads such as myself who care about the health and stability of the site, and it surprises and somewhat upsets me that this thread is being passively ignored by all the mods.

The reason things were so much better off back then is because mods garnered respect because they still focused on the importance of the community, while I feel that the current mod team is instead backed into a corner and letting the community run them instead of the other way around. It's been talked to death but no matter how you look at this, sharing your account isn't acceptable. It should be an instant demodding. No questions asked. No amount of ability or amount of reports you can offer should be discussed because reports are but one aspect of modding, and most mods have seemed to forget that.

didn't read the OP or the thread but demod the mod that allowed this account sharing to happen and replace him with a fresh face, not someone who's been mod already. simple. why is there 17 pages?

Contrary to popular belief, there are a lot of people always willing to do mod work, and sometimes it's quite good to take risks by modding people you don't know very well. It never used to be a big friendship group and the fact it became one is the single biggest cause of the issues with the mods these days.

becoming friends with people you mod with =/= modding friends. I don't think Vancy really personally knew any of the new mods particularly well before making them mods.

Actually, Arcbell had the right idea about friendship groups in mods, Stan. He just had the wrong method of solving it.

A lot of this is old news that only is getting aired out because Riot's mad he was the target of Gary's schemes, which could have been caused by kino's involvement with Gary.

It'll get resolved.
