West Coast Real Estate

almost 11 years

I've decided that within the next 10 years that I want to relocate out of NY because it's cold and expensive.

I'm planning on visiting San Diego and possibly LA some time in May and would like to visit different areas up and down the coast over the next few years to see where I could ultimately move to after I've gained enough experience to be able to more easily get a job in a new market.

Since I know there are people on the site who are from this part of the country, I was hoping some of you could provide insight.

The only things I am not about are too cold, too rural or "cookie cutter" type communities where the most ethnic thing to eat is Taco Bell or Panda Express. (I've heard parts of LA can be like this)

Things I like: Food, warm, reasonably affordable MBA, good job markets, affordable apartment/housing, public transit

Thanks guys, appreciate the help.

Seattle, actual Seattle, only gets a couple of inches a year IF there's snow that year at all to begin with

Corporations, Dan. Huge corporations here. You could move up the corporate ladder more easily than you could other places.

also. Legal weed if you're into that.

There's a lot of good options in Washington such as Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, and Vancouver (which is basically moving to Portland at that point.)

Oregon has some nice cities as well such as Portland, Eugene, Lake Oswego, and Bend.

Washington + Oregon has the best climate. Mild winters with rain at worst. The summers are literally perfect usually being around 80 F.

What do you consider a mild winter?

No snow and the temperatures rarely go below freezing. The only downfall is rain, but it isn't that bad.

not in seattle but when i lived in port angeles there was snow

Now that's really far up northwest.

When was there snow? The west side of WA/OR rarely gets snow.

WA/OR east of the cascades is a completely different story

is Atlanta the kind of city where the only people who live there are people who grew up there? or at least a vast majority, I mean. Cleveland was like that and Cleveland sucks.
