thanks bby, maybe we should just make an a$$hole lobby that would solve a lot of problems and guise it as a comp lobby :3

The site isn't just about competition anymore. As a comp player, it'd be nice to see other setups gain popularity, but ultimately the site isn't solely about competitive and probably won't ever be again.

Let's be clear on something: this site has never been primarily about the competition. Many of its main supporters, however, are competitive players that post on the forums often.

But don't let that confuse you. You should know by looking at the numbers that Training Lobby and Sandbox (and misc. custom lobbies) greatly outnumber that of Comp, even at its prime.

And no, there is no reason to undo the merge. Comp Lobby was significantly dead prior to merger. Games took roughly 30 minutes to fill.

Nobody except you circlejerking anti-social misfits care about your skype parties that revolve around metagaming every single lobby you stack.

Lol i'm not bashing you nor am i offended the better players will usually trophy if they run thats in comp or main. Splitting the "good" from the noobs splits the community has a whole too how are the noobs ever going to get better if the better players are in there own little closed off circlejerk

You're bad

what flea said was pretty much on point, the thing with merge is that the quality of gameplay took a slump since it sort of takes some time for the fp/classic players to get used to or develop their own strategies for competitive setup.s They really have been mixing with a lot of the older players and i think it'll just get better with time.

Nikos and I had originally drew up plans to try and funnel more people from Training to Competitive (so Lucid wouldn't de-sticky it), but the Training community didn't want it because they didn't want to deal with Comp people or be forced to play in competition because Comp people have the stigma of being rude, unhelpful tryhards who make people cry over pixels.

We proposed the merge because it pleased all parties - Training Lobby players didn't have to go on the Trail of Tears to Comp Lobby and they got their competition back. The Comp community didn't fall by the wayside as a custom lobby (because it also makes zero sense to have a "site" moderation team to deal solely with a lobby too slow to warrant a sticky) and the competition gets more traffic now.

The only negative side effects were the alt point requirements being changed, although really the old way was just exploiting a glitch and not really how lucid had intended it to work.

It takes time for people to get better. Competition is busier now, more games are getting played, people from once stratified communities are mingling. It's better for the site long term. If the site can change one way from a split with tiered lobbies, it can eventually revert back.

Again the real problem is that people grow up on bad setups and pick up awful habits in them, and finding a solution to that is going to be a much greater challenge. However, who is it to say that they can't play what they want? The site isn't just about competition anymore. As a comp player, it'd be nice to see other setups gain popularity, but ultimately the site isn't solely about competitive and probably won't ever be again.

P.S: Bad players do not deserve trophies. Another reason why comp should come back. Noobs screw it over for actual good players. I was rooting for 3 players and they all failed to run. No bueno.

all the people that are going to trophy this round have already trophied in comp i'm pretty sure

They ran, but did they win? Like, I used to see ACTUAL GOOD players run and own everyone's . It was hilarious. Half of these trophy runners don't even have to try because everyone. sucks. at. mafia. ~in main lobby~

I trophied twice, pranay has like 4, zedd has 2, jazz has 2 the only person up there that hasn't is xxerox and ehhh.
The merge was a good idea the whole point of it was to bring the players together and bring the newer players to competitive play which it is doing. Originally comp was a big circle jerk and it was hard to get into whether you like it or not the merge is better for the em community as a whole and people will get better

Honestly, I don't know how either you or Zedd play, but I'm not going to say "Woaw, okay. Pranay is God." I've seen Jazz play on different alts and he's p good. Besides that, dunno. (No offense, we're just giving opinions here, right? We have the right to give one as long as it's not super insulting, so. Don't bash me with nonsense because we're entitled to our subjective opinion. TY.)

Would it be easier if someone decided to just take full responsibility for competitive lobbies for us players who actually want to play with other good players? I think someone suggested this, but idk. Someone responsible.

No one's gonna play if it isn't officially stickied.

Games in competitive lobby before the sticky were infinitely better than the average gold heart main lobby game.

Actually you should've just left it while it was increasing in popularity rather than just imposing your quixotic beliefs yet again.

Yeah, because I was the one who told lucid to desticky Comp.

The theory was that newer players would be exposed to good players and pick up on their play and get better over time. This doesn't work if their are very few good players who haven't left yet.

It also doesn't work when the good players resent the new players trying to learn or when the new players are belligerent and don't care at all to improve or actually play the game seriously.

Considering the alternative was a destickied Comp Lobby that only would've gotten smaller, it didn't really make sense to keep it.

The quality of the games is going to fluctuate a lot more since there are a lot more people playing. It's a huge meta shift for the new players to be exposed to Comp so it'll take them a while to get used to the pace and mechanics. It'd help if setups outside of FP/Classic/Coco's were popular in red hearts though.

I would tell you
That I loved you
If I thought that you would stay
But I know that it's no use
That you've already
Gone away

Misjudged your limits
Pushed you too far
Took you for granted
I thought that you needed me more

Now I would do most anything
To get you back by my side
But I just
Keep on laughing
Hiding the tears in my eyes
'cause boys don't cry

How about giving competitive lobby a new owner (someone who doesn't go inactive as soon as they're in charge of something) who can run the competition and appoint some reliable people as mods

Eh but at least they tried to scum hunt and people actually participated. We screwed up sometimes, but now...everyone thinks because you're blue, you can lurk. Why...mafia is a psychological game, so why...stay...quiet...all the days??? I mean, I don't mind if you're quiet because you're reading then giving some input, but saying, "I'm blue, what am I supposed to do." Isn't helpful either...people who actually talk and particpate that are blue get lynched because we're "too helpful". I don't know, man. It's a subjective opinion.
