Again, this is a very idyllic situation for everyone involved. Though, a lot of these sentiments fit well on to paper, much like that of the Manchester United squad, but look at them perform and it's not so charming.
My point is that players, like myself, do not have the patience to embrace every single game with this mentality.

you should have let it die on its own accord then. At least comp players wouldn't have felt like they were forced to play training.
comp lobby was killed to avoid letting the site have one of its major sects die from inactivity. letting comp lobby die "naturally" is a terrible idea.

harrold right now: everyone is not as good as me, ugh, why cant people be as good as me? i miss competitive lobby where players were good
harrold two weeks ago, in competitive, as someone mishammered in their game: WTF WHY DID U MISHAMMER YOU SUCK YOU RUINED MY RUN YOU'RE SH*T COMPETITIVE IS DYING EVERYONE SUCKS
I don't think you're listening to a word. Not to mention the fact that I don't even run, so I'm not sure why you're discrediting my opinion by attacking my character.
im using you as an example of the horrible mindset that is plauging this thread now as you insist that competitive lobby was any better, when in reality
it wasn't.

me and slow are tearing up the dumb arguments with our bear hands right now
there is some massive textual evisceration going on right now
I think you're deluded to be quite honest. You're just showing how poor of a moderator you are by attacking people for speaking out for changes that have been made within their community.
'things are different therefore i dont like it change should never happen and we should never grow ever'
honestly i think bottom line is even if you think comp lobby was somehow the oasis of Good Mafia Playing, it had low activity and was probably going to die a slow, painful death as opposed to this quick alternative one.
Yeah, it would've been silly to waste so much manpower moderating a lobby that the site owner didn't even want to have stickied anymore.
Change will come eventually if you try to make it happen. It's not going to be exactly the same as before, but it'll get better.

All I care about is making sure I have a spot on the leaderboard. That means that I'm not -too- bad at how I play mafia (or that I get ridiculously carried) and that I shouldn't leave the site just yet. ;3;

That can change though. Culture change always takes time. This merge wasn't meant to be a quick fix, it's a long-term solution that will take a long time to see true benefits and change.
My advice is to try and teach newer players and help them along. I learned simply from being exposed to better players and asking them for help or for their explanations on certain things. It helped a lot.
And if they refuse to play in Main Lobby then they're making their views on the lobby a self-fulfilling prophecy. I agree with Slow that it's better that the games aren't so heavily influenced by meta and are less "circlejerky".

i also think that stupid meta was just as prevalent, if not more so, in comp lobby, but that's just me.

training logic: wow they have a lot of points and didnt die, must be maf.
also i have seen multiple times where a majority of comp players are seen as "noobs" bc are pies didn't merge with training and it's highly annoying that training players can't cope with the strats comp players use
well i guess it's just impossible to overcome this hurdle with explanations so we have to remake comp lobby

hypocrisy, goodbae
i guarantee you that we will still have people complaining about competitive being sh*t and the playerbase being awful
has it ever come to mind that the mindset that harrold is having is wrong and that he should adapt a better one? i just wanted to point it out.

yeah, i think training players are vastly underrated and are pretty good at towntelling when they are town and i would trust a lot of them with a hammer over some people in this thread :-)

Comp lobby wasn't that good anyway. There's a reason why a majority of training lobby players have positive differentials in their pies while comp lobby players usually don't.
No one gives a crap about their pie chart when it means they can actually have a fun game.
No offense pal, but the past few rounds all I've seen you do is make ill-advised roleswaps. Comp players put up with this because they know you and understand that this is how you play (because the community of active comp players in comp lobby was small).
In Main, they don't know you or your meta and don't understand this technique of yours and probably scumread you for it.
Maybe I'm reaching but this may be why you're not having a good time right now.
I understand this completely, too. Don't think that these sentiments fly over my head prematurely, Dan. The truth is that I'm not just speaking on behalf of myself, however, but on behalf of my friends who out right refuse to even play in Main Lobby because of the expectations they have developed towards the lobby through their own experience.

i don't really get why people are saying that fun mafia games don't exist in main lobby. i for one have had some fun main lobby games.
Likewise. I love main lobby. It has versatile players ranking from beginner to advanced. There is less newbie manipulation as well.
